Hi,

I have been considering purchasing the BFL Jalapeno that is supposed to start shipping soon. My issue is looking at previous post and researching it, I doubt if they deliver. Searching youtube I only found 2 videos of people having one, if people have been receiving them I would expect more videos on youtube and "brag" post here. Also with the Jalapeno coming out at 3.5 GH/s for $149 vs the single at $599 for 832 MH/s I would expect hordes of people rushing to sell their singles while they are still worth something to put in some pre-orders for a couple Jalapenos. Searching E-bay and Bitmit I was only able to find one person selling their single (http://www.bitmit.net/en/trade/i/4735-used-bfl-rev-2-singles-can-still-trade-these-up/description). I only believe this further supports my doubts, but in an act of good faith I ask any one reading this who owns a Butterfly labs products to post pics to this thread or post youtube videos of your's in action and link it here. Please prove me wrong.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

This thread is full of people who have received their Singles.
This thread has some pictures/videos of Singles.
The reason why everyone aren't mass selling their current Singles is that a lot (most) of the Singles will be traded in for ASICs.

There are plenty of BFL FPGA in the wild.  There are not (as far as I know) any ASIC yet.  These are due for release in the next 4 weeks or so but whether BFL make their delivery target is another issue.

I think that it is agreed that BFL are not a scam operation, but they may have over promised on the ASIC and this remains to be seen.

Indeed, the bottom line is we are working to improve customer service and our shipping times.  We just shipped orders from the first of August, so we are getting caught up there.  I have been working hard on the customer service issue as well as the shipping issues.  We are also working very hard on getting the ASICs out the door on time.  We are really beefing up our production capacity and moving everything we can in house.  We've purchased a pick and place machine, an oven, stenciler and other equipment to manufacture all the boards in house.  This means we can produce as many boards as we need without being at the mercy of board manufacturers and their timing/runs.

Our ASIC chip is 100% original IP and we will have as many chips as we need, when we need them.  We are standardizing a lot of our equipment, so we can keep massive quantities of inventory on hand (at least 6 months of production work is the goal), allowing us to crank out units - literally - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week if need be.  We've hired more personnel and will be hiring yet more people as we gear up.

The ASIC generation is going to be much less complex, as well, so there will be less steps to creating a fully functional end unit, and we will also be able to assemble/produce the much faster.  Everything you know about BFL is changing now and will continue to change.  The only thing I can do is assure you we understand the concerns and we are doing everything we can to address the past mistakes.

i think they will deliver (sure maybe a bit late...), and for there estimation, a 10-20-30% miss calculation would still be friggin impressive Smiley

They will deliver something at some time.  The question is how late and how close to advertised spec (and how much power)!!

By Christmas I hope to have all current pre-orders shipped, not just the first batch!

I just decided to put in my pre-order for the Jalapeno this morning.  The other miner I was looking at was the BTCFPGA ModMiner, but the Jalapeno beats it hands down on price as well as performance, if the Butterfly Labs website is accurate.  My five GPUs are working very hard for meager payouts right now, and will be even less productive in a few months, so I'm looking to the future with this, and hope BFL can truly deliver.  Hell, since they're so close (couple hundred miles), I might want to take a day or two off work to drive over there to Kansas City and look at their facility.
