Its so strange to me how inconsistent our legal system is with penalties.  I know it wasn't an open and shut case, but imo she murdered the guy (allegedly).  6 years seems like a light penalty to me.

Well ... perhaps you are right but law isn't always fair.

Prison sentence will be reduced if lawyer can convince the jury that the murder was a crime of passion.

Well.. there are many different cases and I don't think all murderers should be sentenced for 25 or something like that but it's hard to say how to fix the law and what should be the fair sentence is really hard to say sometimes.

That's better than the 79-year-old dude they recaptured after escaping from Shawshank in '59 and now has to server at least 13 years of his remaining sentence if they don't attach more years to it due his escape.

Wasn't really a murder. She shot him up with heroin but miscalculated. That actually happens quite a bit. Culpability is on those who put heroin users in the position of having to use an unknown product quality. So the judge had to ask himself "How hard should I punish this girl for the mistakes of my colleagues?"

That is true, it is a grey area for sure.  You just reminded me, I remember reading about some additive that dealers were putting into heroin that was causing overdoses.  I wonder if this is a case of that.

However she did not call 911, or try in anyway to get the man help.  It is a case without hard proof but to me it looks highly suspicious.  Lots of people take heroin all the time without overdosing.  If this exec was involved with drugs and prostitutes, who knows what other things he was doing.

That's crazy!  It's pretty amazing that he managed to stay hidden for this long with all of the technology that exists now for finding people.

As for me, in this particular case 6 years is fine. 6 years is not actually that little period, this is a considerable piece of one's conscious life.

6 years is a light sentence for anyones life but it gets worse, much worse. I was unfortunate enough to watch my friend get stabbed in the heart when I was a little younger, time flys it was 8years ago. Anyway he was 27 and the guy/kid that stabbed him was 16. We was walking back for the local shop and he threw a chocolate at me missed and hit a window, the window turns out belonged to a family that has a lot of grief in the past  Undecided Someone came out and stabbed him 3 times killing him and cutting my hands and arms. Court gave him 2 years for my friends life because my friend used to be a criminal, 2 years manslaughter with diminished responsibility. Oh he had cable tv and a easy time while in there and now is in witness protection for the rest of his days. Legal system sucks

Damn...only 2 years for murdering someone simply for throwing something at their window...What did he wind-up in witness protection for? Sounds like a real p.o.s.

Wow that is pretty crazy and does seem like a light sentence for this. Guess it all depends whether there was actually intent or not.

It's amazing how a pretty face can change things so dramatically.  I remember Opie and Anthony did a piece about teachers who slept with students a few years back.   The amount of time the teachers got was relatively proportional to how attractive they were.
