Move this to the Meta section and please specify the earlier account's profile link. If it was hacked, you can recover it with a signed message.

It took me a few minutes to receive the reset password email from bitcointalk. The system works.

If after an hour still nothing shows up, then your email address is probably changed, or you simply registered your account with fake email data.

don't know how to move it (done!)

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=372118

what is a signed message?

i think is past 1h and i got nothing.
no fake data!

the weird part is that before the forum went down, i changed the email address, and now i receive updates on the old email!
no rest password mail in neither email addresses!

Refer to this screenshot to move your topic to meta:

If you are receiving updates of this account "mavericklm" in your email inbox, it doesn't seem that your account was compromised then but still am not sure as your password is corrupted even though you accessed it on May 22nd. May be it may take time to receive the reset email.

Signed message is necessary only if your account has been hacked. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=990345.0;topicseen

I could login to my account with my old password and then I changed my password and did not reset it. No clue if I did anything wrong now.

I was under the impression that this forum did not use email confirmations to reset passwords.

Check your spam folder. Your password has not been changed in the last 30 days. Your account has also not been online since the forum was hacked so it is safe to say that as of now your account was not compromised, although that may change in the future.

Have you simply logged out and tried to log back in with your new password? As far as I understand it there are no password change confirmation emails, because if an attacker got into your account he could just change your email anyway. I might be wrong about that last part. Can anyone confirm that BCT does not send pw change confirmation emails which need to be clicked to change the pw??

Put your old email or your username in the forgot password textbox. Theymos likely revert the forum a little bit and use latest backup on that day.

Also try using your old password.

Hmm, odd. Why didn't you just change the password directly and not reset it? That's what I did when this forum got back up, and it seems that I have done nothing wrong so far.

Exactly. Why would you need to reset your password when you can just simply change the password directly without even opening your email?

I have got reports from other users that this has happened. I have a feeling this is going to be a big problem.

I just sent half a million "change your password" emails, so a lot of email providers aren't too happy with me. Emails might be delayed for a few days, and when they finally do get delivered they'll probably end up in your spam folder.
