Hello, everyone.

I created a new blockchain wallet last Thursday and besides the default receiving address that it comes with, I quickly created 3 new receiving addresses.

I double checked all four of them and saved them into my organizer.

From my sports betting accounts online Saturday, I withdrew from the casino about 7 coins to each address.

On Sunday, I noticed that one 7 coin transfer had not arrived.

I thought the casino ripped me off, but when I logged back into the blockchain wallet, I noticed I only had 3 receiving addresses and not 4.

The last receiving address had totally disappeared from the wallet.

Double checking the address in blockchain, the 7 coins were indeed transferred there, but I have no way to access them?

How is it that I had 4 receiving addresses in my wallet and now one is gone?

Because it was a new wallet and all the addresses just created, I'm thinking maybe the blockchain reset right after the addresses creation or maybe a server error it somehow didn't save the last one, or maybe I didn't log out properly, or........I don't really know.

The prospect of wallet addresses just up and disappearing seems kind of frightening, so I thought I'd ask the forum if they've ever seen anything like this?

What I do know for sure, is that I double checked all four addresses at the time of creating the wallet Thursday and they were all there, but as of Sunday only three.

Can you at least provide one bitcoin address or better a transaction ID? So we can make a supposition, but I think that your 'blockchain.info' account was compromised (do you use 2FA on *BC.info?).

*BC.info = blockchain.info

Well, I still have about $2000 sitting in the wallet, so I don't think the wallet itself is compromised. I feel like there was some sort of wallet/blockchain "glitch" as opposed to malice.

The wallet address in question is 17qncPnC31JcJQKM8stBgSdQRtuHskcZ49

https://blockchain.info/address/17qncPnC31JcJQKM8stBgSdQRtuHskcZ49

The money hasn't moved. The 7 coins are there, so the casino did send the funds.

The problem is that on thursday 17qncPnC31JcJQKM8stBgSdQRtuHskcZ49 was a valid receiving address in my blockchain wallet.

Now it is not.

As to the question about possible multiple identifiers, no, it was only one wallet in question.

Did you backup the wallet?

Is the address also missing in backup?

It appears block chain info does not update correctly the wallet. I have a similar problem just. All my transactions of all adresses and the account is set to 0.  In blockchainexplorer but everything is there.

i found this:
The official portal for Blockchain user support is found at https://blockchain.zendesk.com - our team is available 7 days a week to help!

Edit: i made a request and got this anwer:
Hello,
Can you try clearing all your browser data, including cache & cookies? Please also try logging in via an Incognito window (Chrome) or a Private Browsing window (Firefox). I'd also highly recommend installing the Blockchain.info browser extension for Chrome, as this is the most secure and reliable way to access your Blockchain.info wallet. You can find more information on it here - https://blockchain.info/wallet/browser-extension.
Thanks!

You should've backed up your wallet. If you lost your password then it's gone. Contact Blockchain to tell them your issue Smiley Hope you find it back.

It is possible that what you are describing is a server syncing issue.
You may have generated an address and that generation was never logged with blockchain.info servers.
So, it is valid address generation, but was not "saved" to their server.

Try the following to see if it exists in your JSON:

You should sign into your account,
go to the "Import/Export" tab at the top,
click "export unencrypted" to the left side of screen,
at the drop down tab, choose "Bitcoin-QT Format",
then scroll down and see if your missing address and its private key is there
Be careful with this information since this your unencrypted wallet information.
All your addresses and privatekeys should be stored in there, if they have been properly synced to the server.

I support a decentralized & unregulatable ledger first, with safe scaling over time.
Request a signed message if you are associating with anyone claiming to be me.

dont store 2000 USD on blockchain.info

put it in cold storage or buy a hardware wallet.

Did you happen to download a backup of your wallet? If so then you should simply use the backup to get the private key. If you don't have a backup then there might be a way to recover your funds but it would somewhat be a hit or miss type situation.

As blockchain.info wallet does not store keys to your addresses (according to them) I doubt that they will be able to provide any help.

And OP if you didn't take any backup of your keys which I doubt you did, I don't think those bitcoins can ever be recovered, by anybody. Just see what the guy suggested couple of replies above and try to export your keys and it might contain the one you sent the coins to, if not I am sorry to say this but your coins might be lost forever. But do take back up so that this doesn't happens with the rest of them and try to move those coins to a safer cold storage wallet.

From what he said :

...

I thought the casino ripped me off, but when I logged back into the blockchain wallet, I noticed I only had 3 receiving addresses and not 4.

Double checking the address in blockchain, the 7 coins were indeed transferred there, but I have no way to access them?

How is it that I had 4 receiving addresses in my wallet and now one is gone?

....

I think someone accesed to his bc.info account, but maybe I'm wrong....

@OP, waiting for more information... check again your computer.

Have you checked archive tab? The address might have been archived by you mistakenly.

This has happened before to someone I know.

What happened was he created a new address, received a bunch of bitcoins and went to sleep. Next day coins are gone; address does not exist.

He contacted bc.i. Apparently, their wallet backups got rolledback so the new private key was lost. They had the latest ones so were able to get his coins back.

I assume this is a regular thing at bc.i. I usually see a post every 2 months.

last one was here
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=40264.msg10604310#msg10604310

Why haven't they fixed this issue??

I have had something like this happen to me, I think it's the syncing problem, the address gets generated but doesn't sync with the servers. What happened in my case is that I created a lot of address, one after the another for future use and when I logged back a cpl of days later, I saw that 1 or 2 were missing, thankfully I didn't sends any funds to them.

I hope you get your funds back and you come back here to tell us about it.

This has never happened to me fortunately. I am interested in how to prevent this from happening. I think I am going to create new addresses in advance and don't send coins to them until I am sure new addresses stick in my wallet after logout and login again.

The only thing you should do to prevent this from happening is take back up and make sure that you have the key to the address you're sending the coins to.

Follow these simple steps

1. keep a strong password
2. attach account to dropbox/gmail
3. whenever you create an address, click on "send backup". Create several addresses at once, say 100. then backup. Then use those addresses.
