Could someone contact the man?

My personality type: INTJ - please forgive my weaknesses (Not naturally in tune with others feelings; may be insensitive at times, tend to respond to conflict with logic and reason, tend to believe I'm always right)

Even if you use Bitcoin through Tor, the way transactions are handled by the network makes anonymity difficult to achieve. Do not expect your transactions to be anonymous unless you really know what you're doing.

Awesome.  I trust al-jazeera more than most US papers.

"We will not find a solution to political problems in cryptography, but we can win a major battle in the arms race and gain a new territory of freedom for several years.

Governments are good at cutting off the heads of a centrally controlled networks, but pure P2P networks are holding their own."

I've sent him some info to get them started (basics: white paper, trade data, Wiki articles/calculators on mining, list of merchants, 'weusecoins.com', etc).

Better to just leave mining out.

Unfortunately, verification is crucial to the system.  Oh, and if they've heard of bitcoin, they've heard of mining.  Go into detail on verification and difficulty, but gloss over the coinbase transaction as a trivial reward.

Yeah, I'm not going to upsell mining as free-money or anything.... but he'd already heard of mining.  I think they're more interested in the concept/potential application for freedom angle than the get-rich-quick scheme.

Mining is essential. Although I would prefer miners be a bit more concerned about what they are actually doing. Instead of leave mining out, present mining properly. Focus on distributed.
