It's funny how Ross - altoid - was not active on these forums since August 19, 2012, yet some people thought it was a good idea to flood his account with negative feedback after he got busted.

Some are actually quite funny:
"He had a hitman kill my cat. Sad "
"He hired a witch to turn me into a newt! "

LOL!

List of countries where they jail non-violent Bitcoin users:

-United States

^^^ List of countries that fines a person ONLY $100 USD and 3 years probation for ripping off the elderly to the tune of tens of millions of dollars allowing him to rip off tens of millions of dollars more in the Bitcoin space while still owing millions due to his Laissez Faire City scam and various online gambling sites with his right-hand man, Jeff Ownby.

But enough about Sonny Chris Vleisides while I update the OP upon reading the latest posts in this thread, thanking you guys for your input.

Such tiny list while there are thousands of scam accusations on this forum. Do they all get away?

I believe the cases that challenged the State's monopoly receive the most focus.

Really sad to see this thread... There are still quite a bit of people who use Bitcoin to do wrong, and many more that are unlucky and mistreated and misjudged by justice and courts, simply because someone wants a cut of their services and/or profit...

Federal Criminal Case Against Burt Wagner Dismissed

at the Request of the Department of Justice

July13, 2015

I am very excited to announce that the criminal case against my client Burt Wagner was dismissed today. The U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Colorado filed a motion earlier today requesting that the U.S. District Court Judge handling the case, the Honorable William J. Martinez, dismiss the case against Mr. Wagner. Judge Martinez subsequently issued an order dismissing it.

On October 7, 2014, Mr. Wagner was charged in a single-count indictment with violating 18 U.S.C. § 1960 (operation of unlicensed money transmitting business) in connection with his purchases and sales of bitcoins. Mr. Wagner entered a plea of not guilty. Although Mr. Wagner and I both wish he had never been charged, we appreciate the U.S. Attorney's Office ultimately doing the right thing and dismissing the criminal case against him.

With this dismissal, Mr. Wagner can begin the process of resuming his regular life. It has been a true privilege to represent Mr. Wagner. I could not be happier for him and his family.

Unfortunately the list of scammers not YET sentenced is way way longer. I hope we can work on bringing those to the same place soon. Unfortunately i dont see many users going behind the ones. Most only cry, extort or threaten. Not many put the time into it that is needed to first find the problem and then trying to solve or enforce prosecution.

Please ALWAYS contact me through bitcointalk pm before sending someone coins.

Thank for that list, it's a great overview!

I think the GLBSE-founder Nefario (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=3046) was also threatened by authorities in the UK, however I don't know the outcome of it, other than GLBSE was taken down.

Indeed. It seems authorities are primarily focusing on enforcing their freedom-hostile regulatory frameworks instead of persecuting actual criminals.

Statement to the Court Upon Being Convicted of Violating the Sedition Act - September 18th, 1918
Quote
Your Honor, years ago I recognized my kinship with all living beings, and I made up my mind that I was not one bit better than the meanest on earth. I said then, and I say now, that while there is a lower class, I am in it, and while there is a criminal element I am of it, and while there is a soul in prison, I am not free.

I listened to all that was said in this court in support and justification of this prosecution, but my mind remains unchanged. I look upon the Espionage Law as a despotic enactment in flagrant conflict with democratic principles and with the spirit of free institutions…

Your Honor, I have stated in this court that I am opposed to the social system in which we live; that I believe in a fundamental change—but if possible by peaceable and orderly means.

He was allegedly coerced to hire a false hitman and the death was faked, as far as I've read.

Unfortunately the list of scammers not YET sentenced is way way longer.

Just goes to show how badly justice operates pretty much everywhere.

Did you see that press photograph of McCarthy & others posing at the door to 10 Downing Street? He seems to have danced between the raindrops somehow.

No. Does such a photo exist (please link me to it) or are you just joking?

At least he isn't a US citizen which makes a serious conviction less likely...

I'm not willing to look for it, but I can tell you that the news story was something like "UK Digital Currency Association goes to No. 10", and that it was some time in the last 18 months.
