Transactions must be included in a block to be properly completed. When you send a transaction, it is broadcast to miners. Miners can then optionally include it in their next blocks. Miners will be more inclined to include your transaction if it has a higher transaction fee.

Where you from? How long have you been a part of bitcoin? Do you know how this works?!?! I'm just really excited about the prospect of decentralized banking systems. Not too computer savvy. Do you know if there are any bitcoin people in Edmonton I could get in contact with?

1. saskatchewan

2. i started back in march.

3. depends on what you mean by "this".  i think i have a fairly good grasp on most of the technical basics of bitcoin.

4. no idea.  might try looking in on the #bitcoin-cad channel on IRC.
