First off, hello everybody. I am new on this board, even though I'm not completely new to BitCoins.
I've heard about the whole system some years ago, but never put much thought into it. At least until some weeks ago, when the topic started to fascinate me, and draw me in deeper and deeper. I'm currently trying to get as much information about the whole thing as possible, because what I've learned so far makes me a believer in the system. Bitcoins, and the whole complex system behind it, is not only unique but an amazing feat of technology and social cooperation.

Let me elaborate on myself a bit, without compromising my identity for obvious reasons. I'm working as a technical consultant for a European company, that has roots in the pharmaceutical, construction, as well as the financial sector. Over the past years I've worked for different companies with a focus on financial IT solutions, and that leads me to the fascination on BitCoins. Before anyone asks, yes - I have, in fact, used company ressources to mine. On a small scale, of course. But why waste a perfectly good piece of hardware on Excel and Powerpoint?

Before the rant gets too long, let me just say that I am impressed, I believe in a BitCoin future, and I'm more than happy to be part of this forum.

Oh, by gods. I am not Atlas. Never thought about the name connection, though. I appreciate the welcome anyway.

Welcome back.

I would expect people to dip in and out of bitcoin during the early stages until it is adopted more widely.

Welcome back Atlas. Did Bane Capital get old already?

I've come across this a few times now, and my curiosity is building, so I need to ask: who the hell is Atlas, and why is everybody suspecting everybody else of being Atlas?

Anyone want to bring a newbie up to speed?

This is not some pseudoeconomic post-modern Libertarian cult, it's an un-led, crowd-sourced mega startup organized around mutual self-interest where problems, whether of the theoretical or purely practical variety, are treated as temporary and, ultimately, solvable.
Censorship of e-gold was easy. Censorship of Bitcoin will be… entertaining.

Lol. I'm sorry, but you have to admit, his name perfectly fits Atlas' highly predictable naming style.

Welp, as I said, the name is pure coincidence. Getting a reply within 19 seconds of my first post was surprising enough.
Thanks for the welcome wishes, though. Reading this forum is enlightening, aside from being suspected as Atlas. Which is funny.
