If bitcoin ever fails, I don't see any other alternative at this moment worth taking over its place. People would have lost trust on alternate currency as a whole and it doesn't matter if the next has major improvement over the other. Just accept the fact, every alternative right now is using bitcoin as a benchmark for their price.

Exactly, every buck trusted into some sh*tcoin (to my knowledge) is based on faith that bitcoin is worth something. Bitcoin will never die, but in the unlikely case scenario where the price goes to such low levels
where many bitcoin backers go away, anyone thinking that some other coin will take its place is insane, if bitcoin fails, they all do.
Litecoin is sh*tcoin like any other, parasyte on bitcoin like all of them, they're just making damage to bitcoin's reputation by their pumps and dumps.

as i have said many times, i believe that the only purpose of current altcoins are to be pumped and dumped and help some people make profit from this process. and all those fancy features that they are talking about are useless since nobody cares about them and they are not accepted by people.

this is why it will not fall, because there is not alternative now, and whales like to trade and to play with their baby, they will continue to play with bitcoin and not let it fall, so don't worry about the departure of bitcoin, it won't happen for now

and altcoin are not really an alternative, they are only a quick way to rise your bitcoin portfolio

lololol
the bitcoin shills on this forum!
hahaha
how is that bag holding doing for ya?

while you been sitting here i made 20 x my money on vtc, 3x my money on xpm just today, 3x my money on ftc, and so on and so forth. Way more on the way.

Currently making obscene amounts on alts.

And yes, i exchanged all my Bitcoin to Litecoin because i don't see it going anywhere as long the Gavincoin attack lasts. And yes, i'm up 5% on these LTC today... all you Bitcoin cocksuckers gonna be ultra mega butthurt when your shitcoin isn't going anywhere and left and right people make hundreds and thousands of percent profit on these various alts.

Everyone knows Bitcoin is going to melt down with the Gavincoin (xt) attack.
I think it will really suck for those being too heavily involved in that shit.

Nice little rally in litecoin in the last hour or so after a 10k buy. Up to .00808 and still hovering over .008 despite 9k+ selloff.

People are playing on the halving to cash in some profits, will probably go something like this; ltc/btc pair price pump, btc/usd price pump,
and then the second stage, ltc/usd cashout while reserving funds for incoming btc halving next year..

Guys, I'm actually willing to see bitcoin in first places but now all this discussions about hard fork, block  size, news related to Gavin and even talks about Satoshi's premined coins reduces bitcoin reputation in the crowd's eyes. Crowd decides. Algorithm, block size doesn't matter if crowd decided to go with Dogecoin, Ripple or Litecoin. I want bitcoin be the strongest but if crowd will be scared beacuse of latest discussions I mentioned above I have to switch  to LTC train with the pain in my soul. Hope it will not happen but history teaches us that the most markable events occurs when nobody expects it - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_swan_theory

Can you call it a "LTC train" when it has done nothing but free fall since last ath?
Bitcoin might not be the one, but sure as hell if it fails, ltc will fail 10x as hard and fast.

don't forget to switch back when all the fuss about litecoin will vaporized after the excitement for the coming halving, will be finished, don't get fooled by it, don't jump on any other train now, bitcoin is still on track to become the biggest alternative to fiat, any other currency is just a shadow of it

the fork is not causing any other major issue anymore, the price is rebounded since then, there is no need to panic anymore for that reason...

People know, atleast the older ones who have seen it happen over and over again. Noone actually cares about LTC xcept few delusional ones.
While it can be used to  earn you some buck on the halving, litecoin will always be what it was from start - altcoin that failed it's purpuse (to be the anti asic coin), so yeah, maybe buy some,
and as soon as the halving passes, along with this pump, dump it once again and rebuy bitcoin.

Well, there is a real chance of Bitcoin forking with the Gavincoin attack. Also the whole support for Gavincoin is just pretending. There is strong opposition for it. So Litecoin is a good hedge for that and thus wildly under value.

Delusional Bitcointards might stand in the rain and cry when there is all of a sudden two bitcoin chains and large chaos. The risks are ignored and tried to talk down of course but the pros know: the risk is real and not a small one at all.

So Litecoin as a hedge for possible Bitcoin desaster is under value big time.

Same reason Vertcoin got the big pump (it's the better LTC if it were not as inflationary) and also same reason we will see Primecoin moon hard now as that presents another possible hedge.

The Bitcoin diehards are actually pretty stupid if they ignore hedging for desaster. Market doesn't care how much you shill and talk shit down. The whales are pro else they wouldn't be whales and they act according to proper risk management. So it's just natural we'll see some serious wealth parked in alts.

On top of it all the arrogance and hubris in the btc community is unbearable and this cult-like behaviour turns people off additionally.

There is 1000 reasons to buy alts now. When your hash for the outdated shitcoin drops you won't be able to find buyers.

many of us are doing the same thing as to but shitcoins and sell them at higher price and enjoy out profits sometimes 200-300% easy profits from some random altcoin.

but this is just proof that all of them are just serving their purpose of being pumped and giving out profit. and this is absolutely no reason for getting excited and thinking that an altcoin is going to replace bitcoin simply because it experienced a pump.

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.
Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

Although Litecoin has risen a bit today, I don't see it as a superior alternative to BTC.

There are better altcoins, like Bitshares, NXT, Slimcoin, Peercoin, Monero. These, at least have some real innovations, while Litecoin continues to be a simple clone without real independent development activity.

And I don't think Bitcoin will "fail" even considering the "hardfork" "problem". When there is real danger of a fork, the losing side will retreat. There is too much money and interest at stake.

That's the point. Core will not retreat even with a Gavincoin supermajority (core miners could even force the fork by pretend update and switch back, also think of idle hashrate on the sidelines). It would have been on Gavin to look for a clear consensus but his hardfork is very controversial so even undertaking to bring his altcoin xt client into circulation was a very stupid move that could potentially lead to A LOT OF FEAR, UNCERTAINTY AND DOUBT.

So now that you know that bitcoin has an image problem and investors trust is already damaged by Gavins' conduct and you also know there IS a risk of a fork even with a supermajority because core will not be given up ever and you also know LTC does not have any of these problems, is under value (dirt cheap) AND has a halving coming.
Don't you think it has some bright months ahead?
For LTC to be a hedge for possible disaster and now also the coin with the better image and upcoming halving ... it's grossly under value.

Basically Gavin wanted to fork without immediate need because he feared of loosing marketshare and what he does is destroying marketcap, investors confidence, possible the network AND help Litecoin to a supreme status as an investement. It's almost impossible to be any dumber than this guy, really.
Gavin should be supervised and should not be allowed to make any proposals anymore. He needs be follow orders from people who know things better than he does. His conduct is a disgrace for Bitcoin.

I just rolled out of litecoin at .00855, looking for a little more downturn before the next wave up which could be moonish.

Though I don't think LTC is very promising, it has always remained relevant because it is on the major exchanges and has liquidity (vs. all the other alts). I think some of the more prominent alts just consolidated bullishly because of some of bitcoin's fundamental threats (the gavincoin debate, the OKcoin shadiness, dark market exit scams) and now the TA is playing out. I'm long LTC still, it's got some upside left it in it. May just drag BTC along for the ride too.
