What do you guys think. All the legit bitcoin users must have an idea of whats going on in the dark corners of BTC trade. It could be used it quite a variety of schemes including fraud, selling contraband(abusing jurisdiction), and laundering. etc etc. I wonder if they really care.

Let me compare it to cash.

I can buy any sort of drug with cash. Does it make me blame cash as a means of exchange?

Bitcoin is a tool. Blame the users, not the tool.

It already is, just look at darknet and sites like silkroad.

The way I see it a currency is not made for good or evil. It's just another way of exchanging goods & services.

I think it's tarnishes the name of BTC more than when people use cash to buy the same thing.
That in it self is the problem, when it is reported and talked about.

So I don't like it is used for illegal purposes, but there is nothing that can be done about and probably shouldn't be.
You are not as anonymous as you think using BTC, it's just the latest exchange medium that has drawn strangely high amounts of attention for it's scale of use. It's a currency / commidty, it's not the fault of bitcoin if it's used to buy illegal things, any different than any other currency / commodity.

You must have an idea of what's going on with DOLLAR trade. Drugs, abusive prostitution, laundering, weapons, you name it. All on a much, MUCH larger scale than BTC.

Do you care?

In theory, there's no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

The problem is when Bitcoin is "spent" the transaction can be made to "disappear" so it's for covering trails. With this criminals get an unfortunate sense of invincibility, when in fact there not.

It's good for current rise in exchange rate (if that is what makes you money), but it makes Bitcoin sound bad/illigal to a lot of people who are not familiar with it.
