Imagine a growing number of Bitcoin denizens getting part of their paycheck in Bitcoins. Many of these Bitcoins, which may not've been bought originally, would then be kept and spent within the Bitcoin ecosystem, increasing their utility and value.

Imagine these Bitcoin paychecks coming from a job or two, found on the Bitcoin Jobs board on Bitcointalk.org?

Imagine this Jobs board making Bitcointalk that much more relevant and useful?

Let's make it happen.

Imagine this Jobs board making Bitcointalk that much more relevant and useful?

BitcoinJobs.com has a method for "Submit a job listing" :

In about a year and a half it has received exactly five legitimate bitcoin-related submissions from employers.  The listings that appear on there have mostly been the result of stumbling across the listing elsewhere, as there is no default place for job listings.   A board for that here would help.

Now, nearly daily there are people looking for work -- freelancers, telecommuters, job-seekers, etc.  who use that form looking for work.  Unfortunately, that's not the purpose of that site and not something that I'm looking to become involved in so am not able to help those submitting.  But it does show that there are a ton of people who will work for bitcoins.

All that needs to happen is for a Monster.com, simplyhired.com, DICe.com, oDesk, etc, to add "will pay in Bitcoin" flag for jobs listings and a method to indicate "prefers to be paid in bitcoin" for the profile of job seekers and Bitcoin as a payment method would start being discussed.

Of course, Monster, Odesk, etc., would not like to see a P2P economy because they prefer to be in the middle.

Wouldn't this type of posting already fit under "services"?

No, it just doesn't go well there. Any job posting will be smothered with consumer services and pushed to the second page. There is no real incentive to try to get work from there. It's not professional enough, IMO.

Plus, a clear selection of jobs on a single board will encourage people to actually seek jobs here as opposed to having to sort through clutter to find a job posting on Services.

In a "jobs" board, would there be both jobs offers (Need programmer, will pay 10 btc) and job seekers (Will teach calculus, 2 btc/hour)?

I didn't imagine it that way originally but I assume it would. If it got big enough, it could easily be sorted into Job Seekers and Job Offers but at the start it's best kept as one board.

Good idea.

Subsections for
- Graphics
- Programming
- Miscellaneous
etc.

would also be cool and attract a lot of people I think.

Great idea and bitcointalk is an excellent place to have this type of subforum. Having a workforce paid in Bitcoin only give more value to the currency.

At first, I think only a "Jobs" board should be necessary. It could be divided depending on the needs later.

They go in the Services section. Don't really think there would be enough interest at the moment for a dedicated Jobs board but maybe in the future. There are also already several bitcoin job sites (just google 'bitcoin jobs').

I agree, although service section is good enough for find a job, but possible with the job board, can optimize job search Grin
actually there are many site for find a job with bitcoin payment, example: freelancer now accept bitcoin for payment, and you can find job here: https://coinality.com/

It would be a nice idea to have a proper section, services is a bit vague so you tend to get businesses posting up offers as well and there's of course the sig campaigns too.

Then put them in the Services section. A few posts isn't enough for an entire sub but if there's clear demand then a section will likely be considered. At the moment job requests/positions are few and far between.

That's true, but you may not know as to how large it may actually be unless it's there. A separate section encourages ppl to post in them. Perhaps, the "services" section discourages job postings. Community-based forums like BCT (i.e conceptart.org, polycount, etc) that I've seen include a separate job board section even though they know that there are sites out there that may do this in some way or another, and they are quite popular. It helps job seekers and job providers and even those who may not have previously considered a job or providing a job. It encourages growth in the bitcoin workforce!

concept art and polycount are art forums. It is more natural for them have a job board due to its nature. People produce art things and make a jpb from it.

Sure, but bitcoin is in a lot of ways like art. People can develop it and other cryptocurrencies and build infrastructure and services that are inspired from it. Bitcoin is different from another "mean of exchange" if you mean things like US Dollars, Euros, or gold. People can't create or expand on these means of exchanges. They're just there. Also, this probably has to do with the fact that fiat money has been around for a long time, and services and jobs revolve around it without us thinking much about it. On the other hand, cryptocurrency is relatively newer and there's not much infrastructure out there yet. Cryptocurrency has a lot of opportunities in it. I would argue that it is a lot like art at this point in time. It is a medium in which new businesses and ideas can get inspiration from.

In my opinion you should hire employees on one of the many freelancer pages given by the www. It's not necesarry for this board here. The Service sub-board suffices.

I support OP's request.
Job related threads are scrolled away from service threads.

In summary, the Intel Management Engine and its applications are a backdoor with total access to and control over the rest of the PC. The ME is a threat to freedom, security, and privacy, and the libreboot project strongly recommends avoiding it entirely. Since recent versions of it can’t be removed, this means avoiding all recent generations of Intel hardware. details https://libreboot.org/faq.html#intelme --- https://tehnoetic.com/laptops --- https://store.vikings.net/x200-ryf-certfied

That's quite right. The service section is perfect for job request etc. Maybe the signature campaigns should have their own section.

It's shit like this that the community isn't taken seriously.

"No we can't have a jobs board because there aren't enough jobs posted"  (.... because we don't have a jobs board!)

"But what we really need is a section for signature campaigns!"

Give me a break guys, seriously.

A board could be made, a year from now this could be a great resource for job hunters and hiring managers in the Bitcoin space.  I don't know if you noticed,  but 100's of millions of VC capital is flowing into Bitcoin,  that means jobs,  that means the potential to grow our little economy here, real economic value,  that means people earning in Bitcoin (hopefully).

Bitcointalk could help propagate that,  or,  it could direct jobs posts to the cesspit that is currently services.   Hmmm,  100k a year dev position,  OR  do my homework for 0.01 BTC..
