How to protect against the bitcoin robbery?

Would you be so stupid to meet with someone you met on Craiglist? If you are into back alley deals, you might consider that. {Just remember, the person you are meeting, are also there for the wrong reasons}

We live in a world, where stupidity have no borders and greed are abundant. If this person used the correct methods, he would not have been robbed. {Meet in public, take two friends, and start with small amounts, until you have built a relationship with the other person}

You are not buying drugs or prostitutes... you are buying Bitcoin.  Why do you need to hide your transaction?

People go this route, to hide something... tax evasion / money laundering .... whatever the reason, be vigilant and use common sense.

If you are going to trade bitcoin physically, do it in a public place. Also, the same way as you don't walk around with all your money in your wallet, don't walk around with all your bitcoin accessible on your phone. Store bitcoin in your vault and then take only what you need.

Yeah and also follow some tip in different thread in this forum. And i think you should have a knowledge about the that person.

Nothing is different in terms of wallet basic. You will need to keep it as simple and small as possible. Try to keep sub wallets in your phone and don't show any bravery at gunpoint

What do you to, if someone asks you at gunpoint for all the Bitcoin you have on you or how to we prevent that?
At some point, robbers will know, that you most probably have a wallet on your phone.
The most reasonable answer in my opinion is: Don't have too much money on your phone.

"Kill me and you get no btc, plus you'll be wanted for murder. Odds are very high that you'll get caught and spend the rest of your days rotting in some rape-dungeon. Have you ever gotten away with murder before? Didn't think so. Now fuck off"

The people robbing you at gunpoint have no intention of firing that weapon, they aren't prepared to commit murder, they don't have the operational security to get away with the crime, and if you call their bluff, they are fucked.

You can always have several wallets, and only carry with you the details about the one with the least money in it. Now, a smartphone is too small to use for BTC or banking operations. Easy to steal and conceal. I recommend using a true computer.

I've never done it, but for significant transactions I always thought I'd just set up a number of blockchain.info accounts with fractions of the expected total.  Buyer gives me some cash, I drain one.  Buyer gives me some more cash, I drain another.  Do it in the lobby of a bank and take the cash right to the teller window.  Maybe even several times to make sure I was not getting counterfeit fiat.

Sure, it might attract attention, but Bitcoin is not illegal in my country and I'm a customer of the bank (who uses my 'high powered money' to create new money and charge interest on it) so it would be uncomfortable for them to kick me out of their lobby.

My bank tried to make me feel weird/dumb for messing around with Bitcoin but since I had made a fuck-load of money in speculation on it, and everyone at the bank knew it, it was a little bit difficult to pull off.  Ultimately they canceled one of my bank accounts (which was used exclusively to interact with Coinbase) due to risk but they steadfastly refused to produce anything in writing.

Seems like, you have watched too many bad movies. That behavior will most likely get you killed. We are talking about the real world, where people sometimes get killed for ridiculous reasons.

the problem is that bitcoin can't be put inside your pocket, they are digital, you need a phone to spend them outside of your house, and unless someone come up with something more cheap(but still secure enough) that can do a bitcoin transaction without the need of your pc or any other mobile devices, the problem will not be solved

still not 100% secure, the malicious person you met, could hide a gun in his jacket, and obliged you to move on another place, it may sounds like a scene froma movie, but it is surely possible

Dont ever tell anyone you have large amounts of bitcoin.  Be street wise in general.  If you want to be super safe dont keep your passwords and wallet in the same location.  If you put yourself in dangerous situations its not just bitcoin you can lose.

Yeah make your coins diversify to your different address and make sure that you have a backup data so that you can avoid the loss of your coins. And also be wisely.

I think, the victim and robbers known each other before, perhaps they would have some heated arguments and it went rise to this situation. However this is not to do anything with Bitcoins business or it brought any defamation to Bitcoins trading. Don't they have any other important news to be published, totally wasted time and money on such lame articles.

I just can't conceive another scenario that isn't a pre-set meetup of 2 persons that want to exchange cash for BTC or BTC for BTC. That's all. I don't think it's possible to go around robing people for BTC, because first of all, it's not widespread enough for the random person to have any BTC, and second of all, there is absolutely no way to know a guy owns BTC or not. It's nonsense to be in fear of being robbed for your BTC, you should fear being robbed for having physical cash with you if anything.
