Hmm... I thought I disabled that list. I don't really want people to know who's ignoring them.

I miss-read the top post - that's the list of people _I_ have on ignore. (and quite pleased with it) Hmm... I thought I disabled that list. I don't really want people to know who's ignoring them.

Ah, good, it is hidden. For admins there is a list of people ignoring you on that same page.

Hi Theymos, I think you're doing a great job for the forum. So don't take this the wrong way, I'm just genuinely curious: Most of the time, it's your stance that it's not your responsibility to police or enforce anything, and you seem like a laid back guy with libertarian values. So, exactly why is it wrong that a user can see who ignores him ? And if there should not be a way to see who ignores anyone, should the data perhaps be anonymized? Ie. At the moment 10 users have you on ignore. The number of people ignoring you could also be somewhat educational, as the more people that ignores a user, the more likely it is that this user is not bringing value to the forum.

Ie. At the moment 10 users have you on ignore.
An exact count would often allow people to guess who ignored them (it's probably someone they debated with recently). Or ignored people would try to guess and become suspicious about it, anyway. People who are ignored a lot can see a range of ignore count possibilities by their posts. If people could see who ignored them, I predict: - Some people would be hesitant to ignore other people for fear of being called out. - Some people would create a lot of drama whenever they notice someone new ignoring them. - Some people would be more afraid of posting controversial things when they see that doing so causes their ignore count to increase. The number of people ignoring you could also be somewhat educational, as the more people that ignores a user, the more likely it is that this user is not bringing value to the forum.
No. It tells you how many people are annoyed by their posts, not whether the posts are good or substantial. There's already an indicator of how ignored a person is.

Anyway, i think it might be usefull to at least see THAT you're bing ignored and maybe by how many people. Now i just get paranoia from not knowing.. It does do this unless it was just changed in the last couple of days. Where your ignore button would be, if you don't have many ignores it's just blank. But if you have more it'll be like "4-8 ignores" and that links to the post by theymos that explains how it works. I would take a screenshot to show you but it seems like mine disappeared. So people took me off ignore or theymos changed it since yesterday.

This is indeed how it works. The counts only include users considered "very established", though.

The problem with invisible indicators is, they're invisible Theymos, maybe this mechanism could be explained in the help section?
