release notes:

# Release 2.3
 * Improved logic for the network layer.
 * More efficient coin selection. Spend oldest coins first, and
minimize the number of transaction inputs.
 * Plugins are loaded independently of the GUI. As a result, Openalias,
TrustedCoin and Trezor wallets can be used with the command
line. Example: 'electrum payto <openalias> <amount>'
 * The command line has been refactored:
  - Arguments are parsed with argparse.
  - The inline help includes a description of options.
  - Some commands have been renamed. Notably, 'mktx' and 'payto' have
been merged into a single command, with a --broadcast option.
Type 'electrum --help' for a complete overview.
 * The command line accepts the '!' syntax to send the maximum
amount available. It can be combined with the '--from' option.
   Example: 'payto <destination> ! --from <from_address>'
 * The command line also accepts a '?' shortcut for private keys
   arguments, that triggers a prompt.
 * Payment requests can be managed with the command line, using the
   following commands: 'addrequest', 'rmrequest', 'listrequests'.
Payment requests can be signed with a SSL certificate, and published
as bip70 files in a public web directory. To see the relevant
configuration variables, type 'electrum addrequest --help'
 * Commands can be called with jsonrpc, using the 'jsonrpc' gui. The
jsonrpc interface may be called by php.

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

True, Electrum rocks, I just hope I get to see a windows phone version of it someday. I only trust electrum with my funds and hate that I have to rely on other wallets when using mobile.

Is there any guide on how to upgrade Electrum 2.x versions? I only see "how to upgrade Electrum 1.x" on the wiki.

I would appreciate some help. Smiley

I've never used Electrum before and just tried it because of the trezor integration.

MyTrezor doesn't show me my tx, but Electrum does! Clean interface and working like a charm, I like it.

Do you have a donation btc address? I couldn't find it on your webpage and I'm wondering how you finance development and server hosting. I want to donate a few satoshis for this fine software!  Smiley

Thank you for your support. I usually do not request donations for myself, because I do not think it is an effective way to incentivise free software.
Developers who request bounties tend to finish projects quickly, and do not really care about long-term maintenance.

However, you you can donate to the people who run public Electrum servers.
Electrum does relies on servers, and we currently lack an effective way to reward the server operators.

Also note that I created a company that will distribute Electrum, sell paying services to Electrum users, and fund further development of the Electrum software.

If you want to donate to the node you connected to, check console. You may find a donation address there.

P.S. This reply was made in 2014. Now, ThomasV maybe accepting donations. You may also find an address if you go through his post history.

There is a guide on Electrum 1.x upgrade because version 2.x uses a new seed format. You don't need to do anything special if you are upgrading from 2.x versions to the latest 2.3. Backup your wallet first (most important) and install the latest version overwriting the old version.
