Bitcoin Association Switzerland reports that, according to the Swiss Federal Tax Administration, no VAT applies to bitcoin in Switzerland. The transfer of bitcoin doesn’t constitute delivery of goods or services, and therefore it’s not subject to VAT.

That's really good news from Switzerland! First we had the wallet provider Xapo relocating their offices to Zurich, and now this. From the beginning it was clear that Switzerland is the most promising country in Europe for the Bitcoin economy. They are a very liberal society, and in addition to that, they don't have to obey the EU rules.
