It doesn't have an awful lot of detail but from what I know he used PGP...

So is this a brute force hack do you think? It's wouldn't be out of the question for a country like China to run his encryption through one of their super computers  to brute force.

I dont think they cracked the crypto trough brute force. The only brute force was applied on his rectum. Or maybe his decryption keys were secretly stolen or he was talked into revealing his secrets.

P.S. He already should reveal ALL data he obtained from NSA without any censorship or removal. Then programmers and system adminstrators around the world will implement effective countermeasures against spying. And render NSA obsolete.
