It seems like the API documentation is a month old. There's questions whether they'll have FIX and websocket at launch.
The only reason people found this out recently is because people have also been getting their Gemini invites. And that's another piece of interesting news.

Title is misleading and outright false. APi has been up for a month at least, it's no news.
No announcement has been made regarding when gemini will launch, and no specific date was given during their fireside chat.

The plebs think the Winklevii will bring them Wallstreet riches, as they are the ones behind it the hope is the supposed veil of wallstreet-iness surrounding them will also surround Gemini. |

I would expect an announcement by the Feds that it is accepted to do such first ..then wait a couple weeks after
for them to actually launch when they get their ducks in a row and contact folk etc..imho it is how such stuff usually goes ..they can't just turn it on
next week imho w/o such an announcement and go/no go from the powers that be first.
(assuming they don't have before hand knowledge)

I don't trade, never have. I buy & HODL in the hope that my investment in bitcoin will really pay off in the future but the imminent opening of Gemini could be really good news for the price of bitcoin, I'll of course be happy if the opening can give the price a decent pump.
Can we expect them to begin trading soon? I see a lot of rumours but nothing substantial, no official confirmation anywhere.
