The country has achieved an annual GDP growth rate of approximately 7% to 7.5% in recent years and is forecast to achieve 6.9% on average in the next five years. With regard to the economy’s productivity, the nation’s nominal GDP per capita grew at a CAGR of 12.9% in 2001 – 2011 to reach approximately USD1,392 in 2011, which meant that Vietnam had achieved the status of an average-income country.

Although the country still lags behind its peers in Southeast Asia in terms of GDP and GDP per capita, Vietnam is believed to have tremendous long-term growth potential. By 2016, Vietnam’s economic growth rate is forecast to exceed that of other South East Asian countries, making it a dynamic player in the region

Vietnam's economy is one to watch and the country is exploring new areas to boost growth, with the government attempting to diversify its exports to improve solidity.According to the World Economic Forum (WEF), Vietnam is now 68th out of 144 economies in the global competitiveness rankings. While the country still obviously has a long way to go in this regard, it indicates progress is certainly being made in terms of economic expansion.
Vietnam is close to China and has good transport links, while the country's welcoming attitude to foreigners is another good reason for people to invest in the nation. Vietnam's prime minister Nguyen Tan Dung is meeting German finance minister Wolfgang Schaeuble in Hanoi this week and getting advice from Europe's powerhouse economy can only be a good thing for Vietnam's future.Tourism investments are already being sought by the Vietnamese government and it is expected that once developers start building resorts in the country, others will follow.

South East Asia aims to replace China as the manufacturing hub of the world. With wages in China increasing and a huge young population in SE Asia, there are some natural advantages. Let us see how Vietnam fares in the global manufacturing scene.

The main purpose of existing of this forum is to talk and discuss about bitcoin and everything which can be correlated with it. So, your post to write for the economy of Vietnam is inappropriate. It have meaning only if we talk about the correlation of this economy with bitcoin. In this direction we can say that bitcoin is banned in Vietnam since February, 2014 by the State Bank of Vietnam.

This kind of behavior have nothing to do with power of the economy Vietnam. Since Vietnam have fear from bitcoin (otherwise haven't banned it) is a poor and weak economy which have fear for something that is yet child and is own by no one.

It's sad to say that I know a lot of newly graduates from Vietnam who decided to work overseas rather than stay in their country and work or create a business. This newly graduates that I know of works in BPO's like Call Center and claims there's not much opportunity in their country. But I would agree that compared to the economy of Vietnam 2 years ago, they are getting better now. I see big investments coming in like the one from Exxon Mobil.

The biggest problem of Vietnam is that it is still a single-party socialist state (like China, Laos, Cuba and North Korea) and this restrains the economical growth big way. The good thing is they do perform some reforms like China, and like Cuba is going to I think, but only after they overthrow the Communist Party which is sucking life out of people of this beuatiful country the real economical growth will be possible.

Vietnam?
How many shops accepting BTC?
How many BTC ATMs?
It's a good place to get a new suit, that's about all I know about this country. Well, some of their women are really charming, but I guess that's not the subject.

I used to be a citizen and a taxpayer. Those days are long gone.
