A good friend of mine recently died.  I knew my friend in person decades ago but we remained friends over the years and recently communicated more over Facebook.  Weeks after his death I saw the reminder that it was his birthday so I went to read his page and I saw that other people were still posting happy birthday and RIP messages.   So, I posted a RIP and happy birthday message too.  I talked about how he's still with us in spirit and in our memories and it made me think.  It made me feel like he's really still here and I felt a chill or some sort of tingly feeling all over.

It's hard to understand the emotions and feelings of losing a good friend that you haven't seen in a really long time.  But you still understand the sense of loss.  Not just your personal loss but the loss for his other friends and family and that really comes through in a social network such as Facebook.

I just thought it was interesting because I had never felt that sense of connection in such a deep meaningful way through an electronic platform.  Anyone feel the same way or have other experiences?

My brother passed in August of last year a few days before his 21st birthday, and I still leave comments on his wall.
