I would be very interested to see what one would end up selling for.

IMO this is the most likely place to find an owner of one

I have a hard time believing anyone holding one of these is interested at this price.  There are only a few active in the world.

It looks like between the coins and the bars, there are only a total of 5 unredeemed in existence. If you were to include redeemed bars/coins, your total would jump by an additional 16.

According to this thread (the OP) one sold a while back for 1,250 BTC, which at the time was worth roughly $1,000,000.

I would think that due to it's extremely high price that it would tend to sell at a somewhat lower premium as very few people would be able to afford it, however the above appears to not be the case

The goat did sell 1 for 1 million dollars (part cash part BTC). The goat also still owns 1 more...not sure who else owns one, but I do know someone who was offered one for an insane price last year.

Would you believe that 2 of the 5 of these BTC1000 coins have been redeemed?! Craziness. You might need to show up some proof that you have the $250,000 to cover the face value of this one, let alone the premium that one would charge.

Good luck in you hunt, maybe call Southeby's.

I know there's a 100 btc redeemed bar on ebay:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/291419942852?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_sacat%3D0%26_nkw%3D291419942852%26_rdc%3D1

I'm sure the ebay store is operated by someone on here, I just cant remember who I'm afraid.

Good luck with your search anyway Smiley.

If I remember rightly Zhou Tong of Bitcoinica infamy said he had one and it would be his last remnant of his time in bitcoinland.

There we go https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=81581.0

Whether he's worth believing is another matter.

A fantastic thing to own but seriously unwieldy to offload. You might be able to buy a small country with it in the years to come.

Only 5 coins in existence, if I recall correctly...

Surely the "holy grail" of physical bitcoins. Good luck in your search!

*Apparently* bitmarket.io has one. At least that's what he told me. I asked for pics and he disappeared so I can't say for sure. It won't hurt to ask I guess.

Lord knows. I think Goat asked $50,000 for an unfunded one. Traditionally the higher the denomination, the lower the premium but this one would be a very special case. The pool of potential buyers would be rather minute though.

That's the million dollar question I suppose. I can't remember any high value coins or bars being sold for a long time.

But I do know the rarer they are the higher the premiums are put on so I would hate to think how much one's worth.
