i am thinking about providing water cooling for my four 5830s.  has anyone else tried it, and if so, how did you end up routing your water lines?  how many pumps and radiators did you end up using?

any suggestions or ideas?  i feel that its obvious the lines cannot be routed in series, the last card would have hot water coming through its cooling block, but i am not sure how to route the lines parallel...

Water-cooling kits run from $50-$200+. I'd do it only if I was overclocking the sh*t out of the video card, but max on the 5830 is about 303, im doing 288 solid with 975 core clock and 340 mem clock, -v -w128 -f0.

Use MSI afterburner to overclock and set your mem clock. (check that out before you decide to buy a water-cooled system)

I'm running 4 6950's watercooled.

I'm using an XSPC Rasa 750 RS360 kit (http://www.frozencpu.com/products/12222/ex-wat-162/XSPC_Rasa_750_RS360_Universal_CPU_Triple_Radiator_Water_Cooling_Kit-_HOT.html?tl=g30c321s1310).

For my setup, the loop is pump -> radiator -> GPU 1 -> GPU 2 -> GPU 3 -> GPU 4 -> CPU -> pump.

GPU 1 runs at about 61C and GPU4 is at 68C.  There is some increase, but it is well within acceptable limits.

my MSI Afterburner is stuck on 900 Mhz for mem clock as its lowest limit.  and i know its because CCC has somehow set that as a lower limit.  any ideas how to change that?

You need to enable OC with the config file, close afterburner and follow my directions:


1) open the directory of the application where it was installed

ie., C:\Program Files (x86)\MSI Afterburner

2) open "MSIAfterburner.cfg" with notepad

3) look for the following lines and make sure they are like the ones posted below:

=====
under [ATIADLHAL], youll find these settings
=====

EnableUnofficialOverclocking   = 1
UnofficialOverclockingEULA   = I confirm that I am aware of unofficial overclocking limitations and fully understand that MSI will not provide me any support on it

UnofficialOverclockingMode   = 2
AccessibilityCheckingPeriod   = 0


If you dont have the same settings, MSI afterburner wont let you touch the core clock.

4) Save it after you make those changes.

5) Run MSI Afterburner and you shlould be able to set your core clock and everything else.

My 5830 doesnt go over 975 for core, anything over it haults and shuts down.
