Hey best exchange
We are planning a community takeover of COV [...]
Please postpone your "is in danger of de-listing due to low trade volume and lack of user interest. It may be removed on June 19th"
... by ONE or better TWO weeks, to give us the chance to establish a new support for this coin.
[...] We want to put a lot of energy into this, but if you removed the coin now, it would be a huge setback.
What else do you need from us now, to keep the coin at least a bit longer? We will prove we can survive!
Thanks a lot!
CV2
... will keep you updated about replies.

and I added a bit later:

Quote
As you can see, our action has caused quite some volume.
For how long will we be save from removal now?

and here is Bill's answer:

Bill (Bittrex)

Hi,

The market is safe from removal for now but you need to keep the volume building so that it doesn't get below the minimum volume threshold again.

Bill

hey, that's good, isn't it?

All the work that I have put into this ...
... has reached an important milestone:

We are safe from removal - for now.

If your serious, and I can afford some of these, I can deal with :
WHO? domain name; webspace
WHO? homepage web design

crunck, that is GREAT.
Of course, this needs a good website.

I put you into the OP, in the next iteration.

Happy that you are on board!  ;-)

Perhaps you can do some planning text, or even graphics draft? And post it here?

I have a nice surprise for you ! I found them  Cheesy
https://slack-files.com ...
https://slack-files.com ...
COV to the MOON (once again !). Our ATH was 450k sat. Price is 27k sat now. Do your math  Wink

TheMightyKnight, thanks a lot!  A useful reminder.

Actually the old dev did not like the recycling of his roadmap & graphics work, see old thread posting #718:
Quote
... and I've taken my graphics. ... (dev who can deliver what they can (not a copy of my roadmap) and make a new bct account/thread and I'll lock this one. end of story. ...

grumpy CovenDev May 17, 2015, 02:45:54 PM https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1032465.msg11401340#msg11401340

But apart from that voice from a distant past ...

... I would like more opinions if we want to use that old design & roadmap at all.

Great job getting this one going again.
Thanks a lot, tx42. It was about time, wasn't it?

Was the retarget issue solved?
Not that I know of. The code I have uploaded is from end-of-April.

But YOU tx42 seem to know much more about this topic than most of us.
What about me including you into the github team https://github.com/covencoin ?

Perhaps you find the problem in the code really quickly?

Great!
current block: 3853
The chain was stuck there for ages. But yeah - now it has started to move again:   3859  - well done!
The majority of coins are on bittrex. Bad!

Thanks. Yes, that is a very important message. PEOPLE - DO YOUR PART AND START STAKING!

I had contacted bittrex:

Quote
To: bittrex
Subject: Coven - (lack of) staking is causing problems; escalate to PoS coin expert, please
Sent: Jun 23, 07:23

We have taken over COV, CovenCoin.

It is a pure PoS coin. The blockchain is getting stuck. Why? Most of the coins are on-exchange, and do not participate in the staking. The situation is unusual:

Summing your "Top 50 COV balances" results in 30275.91 COV; so of all Covencoins in existence (<34000) ...

... at least 89% are on bittrex !

But you, bittrex, can now help to solve the situation, by enabling the staking in your wallet:

Covend encryptwallet YOURPASSWORD
Covend
Covend walletpassphrase YOURPASSWORD 604800 true
Covend getstakinginfo

Explanations:

Please open for 7 days = in seconds: 7*24*60*60 = 604800
true means: stakingonly=true so it is only unlocked for staking
Also see
Covend help | grep wallet

All this is not your fault, and it is not our fault
- instead it has happened through collective misbehaving ;-)
PoS coins have yet-undocumented drawbacks, obviously.

Please discuss this with your ProofOfStake coin expert.

Thanks a lot!
:-)
and - GREAT - they are actually helping us! But only for a limited time:
Quote
From: Richie Lai (Bittrex)
Sent: Jun 24, 11:42

I've turned on staking for now... chain should be moving... I'll give this 24 hours before we disable again...

Thanks,
Richie

people, everyone, all COV coin owners ...
this is what you must do now now now
if you want COV to live on:

Better all of you move some coins to a wallet, encrypt it, unlock it
- to start staking. But be patient, it takes long until they appear in your wallet (Send a few first, not to panic).

Download the wallet, make an address, send some coins from bittrex to your address.

Or send some to my 24/7 staking address: CQfH2dwUcGXcxvfxU2nqoqGC4qcbSipvRX  Thx
Judging by what I learnt there, it takes days until the blockchain will get reliably faster again. Every staker helps.

Thanks a lot. I'll add you to the OP as a 24/7 staking node.

This post here is probably the most important message for these 24 hours.

!

EDIT:
just waiting for my first test withdraw going to be sending to my wallet in 10 coin chunks to spread my wallets weight over as many blocks as possible to help the blockchain pick up momentum... I suggest others do similar  Grin
Very good, fonzerrellie. That is staking-for-experts, indeed.

really we need a block explorer, should we start a crowfunding for that?
Yes great. Please do so, bhokor.

Could you make 2 addresses (one BTC, one COV), and publish them here? You are the money keeper for the block explorer fund.

You could also try contacting the big block explorer farms (e.g. https://chainz.cryptoid.info/faq.dws), post our wish into their BCT thread, etc.

what about having many different block explorers?

any other ideas?

Somebody have access on the Twitter account ? https://twitter.com/CovenCoin

Good point, kondiomir.

Until we get that (and perhaps we never will) ...
... could you please simply make a new twitter account?

Which other good names are still free?

Hey - patience is a virtue!

So any update?
Yes, many, see above.
I cannot do this full time, so I will only work on COV every few days.
But we are many here, so that is not a huge problem.

OP is clealy incompetent.
Perhaps yes. Perhaps no. Let time show if that is the case.

And even if ... it won't matter too much. This restart is not intended as a coin with an overworking dev, and a lot of consumers who just want to get rich, but do not want to work for that. There are enough other coins of that type, right?

Thanks a lot to everyone who is sharing ideas, making suggestions, pointing out problems, finding solutions.
If you see something that needs to be done, just do it. If you are insecure if or how to do it ... first discuss it with others, then act.

I intend this to be a TEAM COIN.

I am preparing a real Community takeover. You cannot go AWOL like that.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=524452

I love your enthusiasm, TheMightyKnight.
Skimming through your thread, you seem to have caused a bit of confusion, and even hatred thrown at you? Sorry for that.

Anyways ... Great, now COV has two new threads. Might be useful. What to do with them?

(just an idea) What if you redesign your TheMightyKnight-thread 1098269, and make it into the COV lounge / publicity thread / trollspace / fast talking / welcome-COV-newbies thread ...
... and we keep this CV2-thread 1096038 as the team space where we develop the whole thing further and deeper?

What do you ALL think?

Hey ... this is a lot of feedback. As a one-time-only action, I try to answer everything. Not possible in the future.

But I really want to show you how much I appreciate the good starting days that you all have created here together. Great! Here are my remaining answers:

Good luck on this project.
Thanks a lot, PoopieLaxitive31. Much appreciated that the first comment in our new thread is such a positive one. And from such a funny nickname.

Restarts can be a lot of hard work.
Yes, it seems like it. It was already a huge pile of work to start this thread;
organize and configure all the accounts, develop the first version of the OP post #1, etc.
But it was fun too, quite enjoyed the highly concentrated work on this.

I just cannot afford it full-time. You want to help somehow, PoopieLaxitive31? How?

Vary low supply 34 000 coins. Just bought some..   Cool
kondiomir, good. Buying helps.

And great point b.t.w. - get COV a twitter handle, please.

Seems interesting , will keep an eye on..
go6ooo1212, interesting.
And apart from keeping an eye ...
... how else can you help?

Bat' Milko
What does that mean?

I have a hunch for this project. Get some before is too late  Wink ( right now is 13k sat )
... and now already twice that much.

It is a VERY volatile market, due to the low supply.

Remember about last Takeover , and finally failed  Lips sealed
Yes, iqlimasyadiqa, what a pity. The new dev listened to much to the rant of the old dev - and then ran away. Really unfortunate.

i dont know , are you seriously about this ? Do you have planning ?
Judge yourself. Just read every word of the OP. How does that sound?
I will soon do an updated version, including the offered help.

iqlimasyadiqa, help us that this time it does succeed. How do you want to participate?

I'll took a little bite at these prices  Cool how could you not? only approx 32,000 coins lol I'm in for rd 2
hey fonzerrellie, nice!  yeah round 2 !

Buying is important ... and staking coins is even more important right now. Thanks a lot, you are doing the 2 right things!

Very low supply,good luck..........
yes, bit1. very low supply indeed.

Thanks for the good luck. Do you want to help? How?

This looks promising with a nice low supply amount. Hopefully the takeover works well.  Cool

Thanks, CoinStarX. How can you help that it works well?

Bought few now and hoping for good take over.

Thanks a lot, devachelekar. Buying helps.
And thanks for bumping the thread - that helps, too.

Everyone here can update, not only me. There is so much to do - what are you good in, devachelekar?

Good luck with takeover....!

Thanks a lot, Tina1736. We want you here ... !

Hahahaha :-)

Yes, we are welcoming our trolls, we even send our mighty knights ...

 Wink

I hope I haven't forgotten anyone? Thanks to you all!

However, the above can only be a one-time-only action from me. In the future I will only be able answer some posts. (Who feels like they could be a good community managers?)

Please rather discuss all upcoming ideas among yourself.
Do not talk to me, talk to everyone here.
Read what the others are posting,
and discuss their ideas, develop them further.
Decentralized, not dictatorial.

There were also 4 direct help / sales - offers by PM, which I answered similar to this:

Quote
Thanks a lot for your offer!

I am not looking at COV as MY COIN at all, I see myself more as a team facilitator ...
... so I will not take too many decisions myself. And thus, I do NOT answer to your PM in private now.

--> Please you post this PM instead into the thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1096038
where everyone can read it, and people can give their opinions.

Thx :-)

P.S.: But very interesting, indeed!

Enough for today ... it is getting late. I am postponing the OP-post-#1 update to next time. When there are even more volunteers ... Thanks for round #1 !

PLEASE NOW GO BACK TO POST #30, BITTREX HAS GIVEN US ONLY 24 HOURS TO GET THE CHAIN MOVING OURSELVES.

Thx  Cool

Alright. I will.

Allow me just a quick summary ...

The reason behind all this ... was that the old CovenDev had decided to lock the thread:
April 20, 2015, 08:00:26 AM by CovenDev              [ANN] [COV] Coven [33k Coins/3%POS]   LOCKED May 18, 2015, 03:14:04 AM

Then, mid-June, I noticed that I had some COV left - and examined the coin, its market, and possible futures - and decided not to give up just yet.

But this is what was about to happen:

* bittrex had announced to remove the market
* 5000 Satoshi was the price, 300 dollars the marketcap, and it would have fallen further
* the old thread was locked, so there was no place to talk about COV, and gather people
* almost zero volume -----> COV soon dead

On Midsummer day, I decided to put in 13 hours of my precious time, and to re-start this, as a team coin, to become "a coven of 13 witches".
June 21, 2015, 07:00:27 PM by CV2                      [ANN][COV] CovenCoin restart: Community Takeover - new thread

What then became a crazy chain reaction of threads:

June 21, 2015, 07:00:27 PM by CV2                      [ANN][COV] CovenCoin restart: Community Takeover - new thread
June 24, 2015, 12:28:52 PM by TheMightyKnight     COV is BACK on TRACK !!! only 33K supply VERY RARE COIN
June 25, 2015, 04:18:20 PM by TheMightyKnight     [ANN][COV] COVEN COIN ! BITTREX ! 33K SUPPLY ! REBIRTH ! ORIGINAL DEV IS BACK ! (moderated)
June 25, 2015, 07:27:49 PM by CovenDev              [ANN][COVEN]|33k.7 Supply|HexNode|StealthMsging|Multisig|SmartX|IoT|I2P|TOR|COV2

Now. Success:

I would have never expected this, but the improbable has happened ... the old CovenDev is back.
Happy! Thanks. I am not needed anymore. Please act responsibly, not to waste all my efforts here.

I accomplished a lot with my activities:

* bittrex guaranteed us that we are safe from removal for now.
* volume shortly peaked roundabout at 1.6 BTC; the price is back in the range 15500 - 39997 Satoshi (300 - 800% up!)
* bittrex enabled staking for 24 hours - which helped to get the chain moving again. (but 24h was too short?)
* old COV people came back, and new COV fans were found
* I envisioned a team coin - actually people got involved with suggestions, and ideas. (linked in my 9 posts above).
* TheMightyKnight got involved, and caused frequent bumping of the now hot again topic COV
* finally,
the old CovenDev has come back, and continues with his work.

Great.

Let us celebrate me, CV2.
I may have saved us all.

I am locking this team thread now.
Unlocking only in case they fail again (which I hope they will not. But
if they do, and you want to continue here, alert me with PMs please.).
So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish.
