Hi

I'm looking to buy a VPS manly for hobby use. Some chat server, few bots, little webserver and similar. So far my Raspberry Pi (1, model B) was dealing with these, but it broke down for the Xth time and as I am far away I can't fix it, I'm just tired of it.

I was looking at Digitalocean's 5$/month plan which is sort of the maximum I'd be willing to pay per month and there was also HostHatch with a plan of 15$/year. I'm simply looking for some input or experience so if you have something, let me know. Sort of the things I'd be interested in:

  • EU Server location
  • Hobby use
  • roughly: 1 CPU core, ~500MB RAM,~10GB storage
  • PayPal would be preferred
  • The cheaper the better, max 5$/month

Cheers.

Have you looked at privateinternetaccess or hidemyass? There's a link to PIA at the bottom of the forum.

Why don't you pay with bitcoin instead of paypal? Better for anonymity and bothe the above accept bitcoin.

Thanks, but I'm looking for a Virtual Private Server, not a Virtual Private Network.

Try the free plan for the first year for Amazon.
Their servers are more expensive than DigitalOcean if you keep the server running 24/7, but if you use on demand, then Amazon also fits very well on your pocket.

Try Vultr.com. Their cheapest package costs $5/month, it has got 1 CPU, 768 MB RAM, and like 15 GB storage, and their servers are pretty fast too. They also accept Bitcoin along with PayPal and Credit Card.

You can also try contacting the user vm1990 here on bitcointalk, he sells some good servers for a cheap price.

I recall somewhere in lowendbox where you could get a vps for a year for 7 dollars (somewhere was a dollar for 512mb ram and 20GB storage, but I forgot).

For the 1 year for 7 dollars, I use that for private socks5 proxies which I resell on other forums.

Check it out. http://lowendbox.com/

you have to pay a setup fee of £10 so it bumps the price up a bit
