In affect what they are saying is... We will not support Bitcoin, but we find the Blockchain very interresting. Can you go out and find something that would better suite our goals... Erm like Ripple.
We do not like anonymity and we have some other ideas for you to play with in your design to create our own tool.
The Blockchain will provide them with a tool to get to the lowest income groups and they will exploit them too, like they did with the middle class.
I am not exited about them trying to enter this market and designing their own "Blockchain" type technology to replace Bitcoin.
