Does anyone know what is going on? In the past few weeks (months) the network has been working slower and slower. But today UNCONFIRMED TRANSACTIONS have reached a new HIGH for me at least: https://blockchain.info/unconfirmed-transactionsIt is obvious this is no accident, I guess someone is doing this on purpose, but what purpose is that This is as of the moment I am typing this message, and they are getting more every minute:

This guys are really stupid, and as many mentioned, probable a SCAM (office is virtual, phone is non existing, domain is 1 month old etc.)
BTW I am pro forking to 1MB SIZE, although their test is really retarded!!!
I have been using Bitcoin for 3 years now, and rarely have I send a transaction without fee and volume lower than 0,1 BTC, which means, that the 8500+ clogged transactions are only their own, mine and most other people transactions went thru with little to no delay.

A backlog of ~6k transaction is pretty common durring "prime time". My only problem with this is that its not helping anyone. They are a dick to everyone using the network just to prove a point that is already well established.

I don't think anyone is doing this on purpose or it's an attack. If someone want to spam, they can doing much better than 7000 transactions

In addition to the links above (shorena and amaclin's), here is more of a discussion and analysis: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1075590.60

I think a much BIGGER problem is the lack of BITCOIN NODESA few weeks ago there were only 2-3000 NODES... there should be some motivation (example: for running tor relay, you get T-shirt after 2 months) for running the node. it consumes lot of bandwidth and other computing resources/growing storage space for literally nothing except good feeling.. maybe transfer something from miner fees to node operators at least for cover the maintenance costs..

It has already been figured out its called:
PROOF OF STAKE
PeerCoin (PPC) was the first coin to use it, but I doubt anyone will implement it in Bitcoin
