The grue lurks in the darkest places of the earth. Its favorite diet is adventurers, but its insatiable appetite is tempered by its fear of light. No grue has ever been seen by the light of day, and few have survived its fearsome jaws to tell the tale.

What is the point in having a police department if your more likely to be shot by them than the actual criminals?

Whoa, there has been so much shooting between cops and people. But it's also the person fault to walk suspiciously towards the cop with hands covered with towel.

Are there statistics that shows how many people were killed by cops in america for the last years? Would be nice to compare it to criminal statistics, to homicide rate, deaths in road accidents, etc...

Even with body cams and cameras everywhere, I think this is still gonna keep happening. Unfortunately, no idea what the solution for this is.

This is a problem with self-control, not the surveillance system. Cops that have a gun should have a better self-control and not panic. But being a cops is a stressful job and that makes self-control hard to do.

List of killings by law enforcement officers in the United StatesFrom Wikipedia, the free encyclopediaListed below are lists of people killed by law enforcement in the United States, whether in the line of duty or not, and regardless of reason or method. Inclusion in the lists implies neither wrongdoing nor justification on the part of the person killed or the officer involved. The listing merely documents the occurrence of a death. These lists are incomplete. Although Congress instructed the Attorney General in 1994 to compile and publish annual statistics on police use of excessive force, this was never carried out, and the FBI does not collect these data either.[1] The annual average number of justifiable homicides alone was previously estimated to be near 400.[2] Updated estimates from the Bureau of Justice Statistics released in 2015 estimate the number to be around 930 per year, or 1240 if assuming that nonreporting local agencies kill people at the same rate as reporting agencies.[3] The Washington Post tracked shootings (only) in 2015 and on May 30 reported a rate so far that would be equal to 937 shootings/year (385 as of that date).[4] The Guardian is also tracking killings in 2015 and counted 464 killed as of the end of May (rate of 1122/yr). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_killings_by_law_enforcement_officers_in_the_United_States

Why did they stop him in the first place???
Because they wanted to stop him. Because they can do this. they can kill people and getaway from this clean. None of that cops will face criminal charges after that. And many of them they just like to kill people for nothing and get paid for this, lol.

they didn't stop him. he tried to wave them down for assistance. this is not the first time something like this has happened. there have been many reports of people reaching out to the police for help and the police shot the people asking for help.

It depends of society. Comparing USA and Great Britain shows us quite much difference in society. If you only take a look, GB police killed only SEVERAL criminals in one year, while in USA that number is accomplished in several SECONDS.

american police killed more people last year than british police did in the whole of last century

Be radical, have principles, be absolute, be that which the bourgeoisie calls an extremist: give yourself without counting or calculating, don't accept what they call ‘the reality of life' and act in such a way that you won't be accepted by that kind of ‘life', never abandon the principle of struggle.

Well... there are reasons for that. The American population is much higher than that of the United Kingdom, and the crime rate is also higher there. The United Kingdom does not have high-crime inner city areas (although there are indicaitons that ethnic gangs are about to create them in places such as London, Bradford and Oldham), and does not have to deal with porous borders.

US cops have already killed 500 people this year, the Guardian's got some interesting stats about it here: http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2015/jun/10/the-counted-500-people-killed-by-police-2015Among the first 500 deaths, 49.6% of people were white, 28.2% were black and 14.8% were Hispanic/Latino. According to the 2013 census, the US population is 62.6% white, 13.2% black and 17.1% Hispanic/Latino. More than one in every five people killed so far in 2015 – 108, or 21.6% – were unarmed. A significant disparity in the proportion of black and white people killed who were unarmed, which was reported last week by the Guardian, has since narrowed slightly. While 30.5% of black people killed were unarmed, 16.1% of white people killed had no weapon. Insane by any standards...
