Hi Everyone,

Do you have any advice?  I created a new receiving address in my blockchain.info wallet account. I sent 2 BTC to it.  Apparently it never synced with my account, and it does not show up in my list of addresses.  Is it gone forever?  The address which I originally generated does not show up in my unencrypted wallet.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

Check the archived tab, in case you accidentally archived it. If not, it's likely gone, as the private keys are generated client side.

LOL more coins possibly lost due to website wallet. Maybe its there, look harder. Maybe you goofed.
BTC is more and more like FIAT with every coin put in another entity's control..
Yeah sure, they cant see your BTC or clean out your wallet if so enclined.

Are you defiantly logging in to the same wallet? Did you receive an automatic email backup?

If you could PM me your wallet identifier I can try and look through the server side backups.

Yes this is possible. Try restoring the last few backups you have (no new addresses will be overwritten).

Click [Import / Export] then [Import Backup] and paste the contents of the email attachment into the text area.

Thanks for the suggestion, but the address I generated did not make it into any of those wallet backups.  Any other advice?

I'm sorry I don't think there is anything else that can be done. If the address isn't included in any of the email backups it probably never reached the server at all. If this is the case it should have been labeled "Not synced". Were you using the web wallet, not the android or iphone app?

Not sure you understand how this website works - it's effectively just a browser based interface to the blockchain. They don't store your bitcoins. You remain in full control.

i assume you just try to troll around, but what the OP did -- in comparison with the bitcoind satoshi client -- is to create a new address, but never letting save the wallet.dat file on the harddisk (compare this to a hard reset of your computer) and also not making a backup of it. so, it's unfortunately not really the websites problem. (it might additionally hide, grey out or strike through the generated public key to make it more obvious that it isn't synced yet, but that's only a small UI modification. nothing more fundamental is possible to do)

Thanks for checking.  I was using the web wallet via Chrome.  I did not notice it never got synced to my wallet file.
