The trade was 10,000 BTC, with laszlo as the owner of the bitcoins.
Although we think that he wasted a lot of money, that indeed WAS the initial step towards people using bitcoins for real-life trading, and was an important point in the history of bitcoin. With this in mind, it HAD to have happened to somebody, to start up the uproar and let people see the use of bitcoins.

It doesnt have to be a waste of money, any more then any use of money is a waste.  The pizza is essentially more useful, people need food and he had alot of bitcoins no doubt.  Also he might have just bought back 10k BTC more when it was cheaper and so profiting from it all, we dont know.

I think this is one of the misunderstandings on capitalism in general, the unfairness of rich people.    But inevitably money is only so much good, people value other things higher and that constant exchange and balance is what constructs a valid economy based on sound money hopefully.  So kudos to the pizza guy Cheesy

[The FED is convinced of deflation spiral, if prices fell nobody would spend they'd only save more. Not true imo]

Can anyone confirm that trade for 20k bitcoins was first of use of bitcoins for buying real goods?
If that is so that is not fanny, that was first step in adoption, and bitcoin was safe from death on birth from that day..

This is very true. The trade was 10k Bitcoins for a pizza. That deal would seem outrageous now, but back then it was an ok deal.

What you think is really funny, but if it comes true to existence we can understand the value of bitcoin has grown that high.

In these days if I get this deal or offer sure i'll go for it. I know this question has got a great story behind. For me if someone provides pizza for 10000 satoshi my expense towards everyday food gets reduced so that i'll get more to invest over bitcoins for my future

Just because someone sold 10k Bitcoins in the past which is now millions doesn't mean that the future is super bright for 10k sat. It will never be a comparison to what the guy laziro lost/spent, I think that is his name. There is not really much you can learn from the past on this to be honest. Other than much can happen with the price of Bitcoins- Not satoshi lol

Yea so you plan to earn only pizza, that would not be healtHy.

I surely hope faucets in the future will become a full-time job, after more adnetworks pop-in.

Bitcoin will definitely have a nice future, and that few satoshi will be worth a lot.

I guess if the price of a large pizza size amounting to 10,000 satoshi, then I think 10,000 satoshi a very high price, probably the same as $ 10, it may occur when the price of bitcoin be $ 1,000 for 1 bitcoin  Grin

I would buy a Pizza at 10,000 satoshi's cause that's a small amount for the current price exchange rate. Considering the past situation where a person had purchase a pizza for 10,000 BTC, that was cause the value back then was low. I wouldn't be upset if the bitcoin price rose a lot and later wonder about the loss.

I think nobody will sell you a proper pizza for just 10,000 satoshi. Maybe in a few years, when the bitcoin price is high, it is possible.

you're right, it will not happen if the price of bitcoin is still the same as it is now, but it would be different if bitcoin prices are already very high. if this time, it may be forced to close pizzerias her pizza shop due to bankruptcy if the price is 10k satoshi  Grin
