I feel once Ethereum is released, dapps such as exchanges, forecasting tools, and other services similar to Airbnb & Uber will come to the forefront of uses for this new technology. This will also lead to more awareness of bitcoin as a similar service, but with regards to the transfer of value.

I think this project, if successful, will give Bitcoin a better opportunity, more so in the long run, as it will give people a chance to really investigate the tech that holds it together.

An ecosystem around Bitcoin is being built, and if it flourishes, so will bitcoin.

And here's a shameless plug to calm your senses: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vcoPs6pcnW0

I hope they stick to the schelude and not keep delaying the release date like they've been doing for ages now. I think Vitali Buterin is a genius and hope Bitcoin and his project mutually benefit from each other. I personally own 0 shares in Ethereum.

It's better if they sort all the bugs out now,  rather then after the live release, where real money is at risk.

Does this mean that my worthless ether will at least have some value too?

Have they given a release date yet or only given a rough time frame? I know they promised to give at lest two weeks advance warning before launch but I haven't been monitoring the Ethereum project for some time now. I hope people don't immediately dump their ether immediately after launch, then dump the Bitcoins they made from selling their ether for a fast profit.

I don't think this will be the only driver that will put pressure for price to go up. It may or may not be significant but I expect the halving would have created a bigger impact. Also the talks about the twins etf fund have being going on for some time now without any indication of its release date, so that could also be one of the positive indicators. We really need fresh funds flowing in for the price to go up.

after all the bitcoin used for this project i don't think anyone will invest something more in it, i remember more than 5k bitcoin invested in this, with a price of 600, so it is like investing 15k with today price, not few pennies at all...

so don't expect too many people to buy bitcoin just to purchase ether..

Ether is useless, just like any other "Bitcoin 2.0" coin. They were only abusing that name for marketing purposes. I don't see any such coin taking off, nor do I see their release having a direct effect on the price of Bitcoin.
OP just pulled up a random number and is probably secretly trying to promote Ethereum, which I suspect is the true purpose of this thread.Ne

Maybe released in September or later. I want most bugs are found before the release.

Probably little effect.

Ethereum is very complicated. It's also yet another micropayment system, something that's never been successful. All the enthusiasm for micropayments comes from people who want to collect them. There is little interest from the payer side.

However, it is unlikely to be worse than Paycoin.

I agree, Ethereum is progressing with its testnet and is looking to become quite useful.
We will still need to wait a bit longer to see what gets built in it but I am cautiously optimistic myself.
But as with all things wait and see is the mantra here.

So there is no hard plan for when it will go live?

Obviously it needs to be ready for public consumption before being released, but it would be good if that could happen sooner rather than later!
I imagine a lot of investors are quite worried. about the delays.

If I remember rightly, the wording of the IPO type thing offered no guarantee that anything would actually be delivered.

Meh, I think people will want to recover their btc value loss asap. Even if price of ether becomes 2x that of IPO, people are still at a loss due to current btc price. A lot of people will probably use the release of ethereum as a way to finally release those coins after waiting for so long..

It will have no effect. Even if bitcoin is bought in order to buy etherium. The people selling etherium for btc will dump the btc as fast as they can. For them it is pointless to hold onto a failed outdated technology. We have moved on from bitcoin. It had its time and charm, but now we have much better things that actually offer something and work in the real world,  not just for criminals.

care to elaborate on those better things? I hope you're not talking about a random altcoin

and especially i want to know why it is better than bitcoin, i begin by telling you that everything that is centralized isn't better than it

so it must be a decentralized thing, and the only other decentralized thing, are altcoin...see where we are going?

There are several vastly superior altcoins. But i'm not here to promote those. If anything i think we need to work together to repair both bitcoins protocol and the rotten community/economy.

And no,  Litecoin is definitely not one of those coins... -.-

What's the scheduel now? I still remember their deadline of 'early december 2014'. So much for that... after pocketing how much? 50k btc?

Not sure of the release date though, but afaik, it is somewhere between August or September 2015. Those bug fixes should be necessarily be completed before going live. No one wants to have a share of something that is full of bugs.

Ethereum might become successful, but why would Ethereum could increase Bitcoin price that far ?
I think it would only change bitcoin price slightly for a while, also i bet few Ethereum holders would dump their coins for bitcoin

On the same page. Why would Ethereum help bitcoin's price increase? I'm thinking that once Ethereum goes live, some holders could exchange their share of Ethereum to bitcoins to gain some profit.
