anyone doing a mining and faucets for this one?

Faucet is up at http://cryptoguru.tk/Faucet/index.php?Currency=V
No active pools at the moment.
BTW, I'm thinking of switching off POW part for good, probably would be better for V network.

Good to see you more active on here, bro! If you think that shutting off POW is a good idea, then let's do it. My wallet now gets anywhere from 9 to 12 active connections. It was only 5 or 6 back in September. Any other plans for the V that are in the works?

I will post a new wallet version soon - with new staking engine and probably will add code to shutdown pow in a few months. Almost ready, just needs a few tweaks  Smiley

That would be most excellent.

Can you expand a bit on the shutdown of PoW - what difference will that make?

Inserting POW blocks into blockchain adds a lot of extra load to coin network - chain reorganisation, etc.
V pow reward is low, sometimes there are no miners at all, sometimes someone jumps in with huge hashrate, difficulty jumps back and forth greatly which adds more instability.
Also with pow blocks blockchain size grows much faster.
Not decided yet but I see no pros to keep pow part.

Thanks that was helpful.

Would be interesting to know how many people are mining (PoW) vs staking but it certainly sounds as though PoW could be turned off.  My only concern would be to ensure that the chain keeps moving when it relies solely on PoS.

Noise,
Thanks for the update! As I see it, there are not many benefits to keeping POW. You've got my vote to shut down POW and allow V to be fully POS.

Transactions must be included in a block to be properly completed. When you send a transaction, it is broadcast to miners. Miners can then optionally include it in their next blocks. Miners will be more inclined to include your transaction if it has a higher transaction fee.

On a different topic I see that the Cryptopia wallet is down for maintenance citing "investigating no connections" - anyone know anything about it?

I have sent them a message and given them the list of (36!) peers my wallet is seeing so it seems odd they they have "none".

V network is strong and healthy, i see no issues at all. It seems like there is some problem with the Crypropia wallet.
Most probably their wallet got network misbehaving ban and getting disconnected from all nodes.
Ban lifted in 24 hours but if problem continues it gets banned again and again.
It might happen if their wallet accepted some bad block somehow or for some other reasons.
There is a big chance that they will need to re-sync to get wallet back online  Sad

Weird thing is that it's not only V, their TRK wallet put to maintenance for the same reason.

Hello all,

I recently got involved in cryptocurrency (last month) and it has been exciting! It really is a lot to take in and sort through and if you aren't into programming hard to tell what all of these coins and tokens do, how they do it, and what they are really doing vs. hype.

Anyway, I had just signed up to cryptopia at the end of Dec to get some pac...bc it was cheap and I don't have ton's of money to dump in all over the place.  I had some money left over and I saw someone had thrown out V as a coin to look into.  I didn't look into it, but I bought about 17K of them just to see what would happen and so I could have a bunch of them.  I logged back in yesterday to check on my coins and saw that V was one of my better performing picks so I wanted to find out more about it...no offense intended, but you guys have some branding issues!  Really tough to find out what your coin is all about.  Found the website and this thread and the 60% PoS is a nice feature!  Anyway, after researching your coin I typed up a bit of an analysis that I shared with some other people that I discuss crypto with.  I could share that with you but don't know if you would want it here or maybe privately.  I would love to find out a bit more about your project and it looks like your discord would be a good place to start but the posted invitation is expired, maybe you could post another one so I could check it out?

Thanks!

Wouldn't a new website help promote the coin quite a lot?

The current one's design is extremely old and outdated!

I agree, a new webpage and maybe a roadmap would be awesome.

Someone needs to post up a permanent discord invite link...

I don't believe that there is a current discord right now, so I will start an "Unofficial V Discord" with open invitation for anyone that wants to join and talk about V in that application.  It looks like the V Dev(s) are busy working on the project right now so I can get this going for general conversation.  If anyone who is "official" with V wants to take it over and make it the "Official V Discord", or whatever, they will be welcome to have it.  It may be a good place to get some discussion going and some basic questions asked and answered, along with building the community...if it is a worthwhile coin it is worth talking about, IMO!

Here is an unlimited invite (for now at least):
https://discord.gg/8Kp8SuX

Feel free to enter and invite other V Teamers, thrill seekers, and those looking to learn more so we can grow the community and the coin!

That is the goal! I randomly made my way here but I am intrigued and would like to see where this can go!  I encourage all experienced V community members to poke into the Discord to share some knowledge.  The V twitter account shared a link to the to the discord group, so we don't want it to lack good content Wink

I don't think it is unpopular exactly, it is another poster said a few posts back it is just not well known/widely publicised.

A fresh website with a bit of care taken over communicating the message would do wonders.

We don't need to be clever about the message, to my mind its a fairly straightforward proposition:
- its a low cost coin with a sensible supply
- it is fast
- provides great support for small/micro payments
- pays good interest

¿The new wallet of only PoS is already release?

As far as I am aware, no. Check the github page, but Noise23 is very good about updates, so the new version will be posted when he's ready. Meantime, I'm able to activate mining in my current wallet which is 2.2.0.0. I don't have an asic, so all it does is throw hashes out, but it does activate Cheesy

The current wallet does stake extremely well, so if you have a few coins leave it open so it can whirr away earning you more V.

i'll open a facebook/twitter account on the next few days

Don't waste your time with the [Suspicious link removed] faucets-  no matter what email you use or what IP you log in from, you'll get the error that the request cannot be made because your IP has been found on one or more blacklists.  Ironically, though, the fact that your IP is 'blacklisted' only matters is you're a free user...   Premium users can make requests from blacklisted IPs, for some reason.  (Hmm, maybe because that's how he fools people into paying for a premium account?)
There will be a (?) HELP button next to the error that you can click that will show you the 'blacklists' you're on.

Here are the 'blacklists' the site told me my IP was found on:
safe.dnsbl.sorbs.net
preempt.dnsbl.sorbs.net
dnsbl.sorbs.net

....Upon closer inspection, you'll notice that the first 2 addresses listed aren't even active or registered URLs, and that the third site listed is simply a "Apache HTTP Server Version 2.4 Documentation" page.   NONE of these sites contains a blacklist or any LINKS to a blacklist.  This is a blatant attempt to force people to pay for a service that should be free by convinciing them that their IP address is blacklisted and can't be used.   Share this post and tell everyone you know that [Suspicious link removed] is a FRAUD!!!
