Right now the two cheapest hardware wallets are the Ledger HW1 and the BlochsTech Bitcoin card at 15 and 20 EUR respectively. However what would you consider cheap? At what price would you get one (either/other)? Do you think dedicated devices help Bitcoin usability and security or are apps and SMS services the way forward?

i would pay around 10-15, something like an usb but more reliable and more secure, that maybe offer signing offline and performing an offline tx, would be ideal for me
there was something like that, but i don't remember it anymore, it started with a B, there was a thread with all the bitcoin HW wallet, i need to find it...

If I had a decent number of bitcoins, I would happily pay 25€ to buy one. It does make other problems, i.e. that you can more easily have it stolen or lose it, whereas secure web-wallets are much better for that. I think holding in a mix of the two would probably be best. I would like them to be bigger, like an external HD size, a usb stick is too easy to lose. It isn't something I want to take with me, it would be like a form of cold storage for me, with my web-wallet being a hot wallet. I would consider 10€ cheap.

I would pay whatever it takes if I have a lot of Bitcoin , anything for privacy & security but for the moment I don't so max I'd pay is probably 30$ which is still low because I want Case Hardware wallet and I just checked their website to see the price ,and I want to suicide . http://choosecase.com/ , most likely it's created with gold or diamonds on the inside otherwise how in the world it would cost 199$

To me its just not good design to put that many features in a product, of course I'm quite biased (see my sig ).

I paid about 50 dollars for my ledger and am satisfied. I paid more than that for my leather fiat holding wallet so why not? If I could get all the features and security of my ledger for 15 dollars I would gladly shell out that much, but as I said, I've already got a ledger so I'm good. If they start making really cheap wallets I might look at them but I would have to be sure it was trustworthy and safe first. We will probably see hardware wallets come out for very low cost soon, more every day

I think simplicity is key, apps and SMS services will probably play a important role in the future (just look at M-Pesa mobile payment system). On the other hand, dedicated hardware wallets provide a much more secure way of storing btc, maybe at the expense of usability. Now that you can buy hardware wallets so cheaply there isn't much excuse for not using them.

There should be a balance between having a VERY secure hardware wallet for $20 and a cheaper alternative for the 3rd world countries at about $5. I think this is one of the things, that may me holding people back from using Bitcoins.
The online wallets is FREE but it's not 100% safe and the good hardware wallets out there {Trezor} are too expensive.
Make it cheaper and more people will buy it. The more people buying it, the lower the bulk manufacturing will cost.

I would pay 5-10 euro and would not pay a fee. What would the fee be used for? They don't need to run any service for you..

my vote is for 10-15$ no more. i dont have a hw wallet right now, but i hope that in the next future all of us will need one of them btw is there is a better wallet who is just a little bit expensive than 10-15 then i think i can pay a little bit more, since security is important.

It should be somewhere in the range of cheap mobile phones as it doesn't require a lot of tech. Probably the most expensive part will be the case, so $20 for a plastic one and up to $50 if it's steel.

i don't have a hardware wallet and i don't think i would buy one either. at least not until i have a large stack of bitcoin and the price is on the roof , maybe then i would pay like 15-20$ for a hardware wallet.

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip. Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

Right now the amount of bitcoins I have I don't think I'd spend any thing on them paper wallets provide more than enough protection, so I don't know if I'd prefer to buy one ever. Voted for the 1st option.

for me personally the absolute max would be €30 which i find a reasonable amount for a hardware wallet. i currently use usb drives to store my coins. sandisk drives that cost me €8 for 16gb back then.

Some hardware wallets are very expensive. I personally would pay $30 - $40 for a hardware wallet. But if the hardware wallet has a premium look/feel, some nice features, and maximum security, I may go as high as $100 - $150 for a single hardware wallet.

I would like a dual hardware wallet. Basically 2 for the price of one that synch to each other.
Thus if you lose one you have a backup. I would pay 50 usd for it.
@ op I could not vote since 50 usd is not an option.
