BTC can be earned in so many ways. Just read an article how you can earn btc while playing Minecraft..... And this is just an example. I don't get how these companies afford to do something like this. I've heard a lot more how you can earn btc while playing video games. What is the purpose and thought of this kind of thing? Is it just trying to bring more and more users and customers to play the games? I really don't like these ideas of how btc can be earned. BTC as a currency is supposed to just be like dollars, we all have to put hard work and effort in order to earn them, now games and other entertainments are ruining this whole purpose. What do y'all think? http://siliconangle.com/blog/2015/06/24/want-to-earn-bitcoin-while-playing-minecraft-well-now-you-can/

Marketing. Is it just trying to bring more and more users and customers to play the games?
Yes, but a minecraft server is typically not having "customers". Its mostly community run. There are so many different servers though that some consider advertising or giving away bitcoins in order to attract players. As I have played on one of those servers I can tell you its not worth it. Its a nice way for people to notice the server, but you either like the people there and stay because of them or you leave. The few satoshi you get per modified block/kill/whatever are not worth it. I dont see the problem. Someone can earn 5$[1] worth of BTC a week by playing a game, so what? How is that ruining anything for anyone? You can still use bitcoin any way you like. Heck, some kid playing minecraft might get to know bitcoin just because of servers like these. [1] rough estimate from memory, Id have to check my bookkeeping for acurate numbers.

Haven't played Minecraft or these other video games you talk but I doubt these will earn you anything substantial, they'd be more like faucet earning and it's not as bad as you think, it helps spread bitcoin awareness among gamers and children.

the only possible way to earn something more than an useless reward from faucets, by playing games, is with hyper and counterstrike
hyper is still a very stable currency, holding strong at 10k satoshi(now it's 31k btw), with few hours of playing per day you can reach 0.01 easily
you need to kill 20 opponets to earn 1 hyper, so with 2k kills you can reach 0.01 easily
there are others games that support hyper, check their thread in altsection

Sometimes there isn't real difference between games and faucets. Some faucets look like games. But their payments are very low as about faucets at all.

I think different, faucets just write captcha every hour without eat, sleep for earn btc for buy peanutes. With play game you can feel different than faucets although you earn same rate(depends on your skill actually), except you don't like to play a game. ~iki

I don't play any video games, but I know a lot of people who do. Earning BTC while playing games is a great way to get gamers introduced into Bitcoin and it would also be a fun way to earn some BTC. It would be very interesting if more games implement a system like this.

And earn Bitcoin with playing game is not ruining anything, because it's not that easy to earn Bitcoin with playing game. You will just earn small amount of BTC

It's a great way to get Bitcoin in demographics that otherwise would never heard of it. Now every kid playing Minecraft (basically every kid in the 1st world ever since it became mainstream) will know about Bitcoin if Bitcoin in-game servers become trendy. I mean what is better than playing Minecraft? Playing Minecraft and earning some real money while you do it, even if it's a little. It's still better than timewasting with faucets.

I'd say that faucets and earning Bitcoin while playing games are similar. However, the idea of earning Bitcoin while playing games is much better in my opinion. Usually people enjoy playing games. So instead of just playing games for fun, you can have fun and earn some dust at the same time. Faucets on the other hand is not fun, and you're also earning dust. So why not have fun at the same time? The Minecraft servers that let you earn Bitcoin would get attention, probably resulting in more revenue (maybe).

I think an interesting idea, in my view the more ways to earn bitcoins better honestly. It's a good way of marketing, the game will attract players who will be playing to get your prize in Bitcoin .

Yea i know people that have over 5k hours just playing a single game, i think some of this game software companies could land a good point, specially a real reward system by having the users gain bitcoin for their playing time.

Giving money just for playing the game opens up space for exploitation, bot play and so on. It would make much more sense to give players part of advetisement and sales revenue as rewards for best places in tournaments.
I have more than 1 000 hours in dota2 alone, but i wouldnt do something like that just for a small reward if the game was bad, it takes much more than that to attract real players. With tournaments it would be much more interesting, and the reward would end up in better pocket than just giving it away based on time count alone.
cheers

Yea that's the only bad thing, there most be some kind of bot proof if it get implemented, tournaments would be nice to attrack the elite gamers that like to compete at events and leagues.
