We all get them, they come knocking on your door and the first thing they say is "don't worry I'm not here to sell you anything.. "

But, that's exactly what they are doing.  They are sales persons trying to earn commission.

We get them weekly. Windows,  roofing,  charities,  insulation,  solar,  the list goes on.

So today they knocked on the door again while I was about to have tea and I said the following.

I respect my privacy so if you are going to ask my name I'm not going to give it
If you are going to ask for my phone number or email address I'm not going to give it
If your going to ask for my bank details I'm not going to give them.
I am however happy to support your organisation and if you provide your companies bitcoin address I will make regular donations.

Then it got me thinking how would I setup regular standing Orders to a specific bitcoin address.

You can send each month's donations to new addresses. Create transactions, sign them but do not broadcast them. Then write a timer script to broadcast them at regular intevals.

Interesting, a new kind of charitable giving. You'd just give these businesses money, without anything in return, so long as you could pay them in bitcoin? Don't leave your real address on this thread or you'll have a line of people claiming to be "a cold caller" to get some coin from you!

In fact, I don't think this would get them to go away, it would just get them to use bitcoin and become regular visitors to your home.

Lmao that would be funny if one of them comes out and say oh no problem sir i take bitcoin, gold or silver, lol. the is some hardcore door to door sellsman that will take anything in trade just be careful! lol

but actually when the time comes I'm sure most of this door to door sellsman will be all about being their own bank.

When you say "bitcoin", they may ask you what it bitcoin! Then you have to tak time to explain to them. IMo most of them don't know bitcoin.
You say 4 long sentences to the cold callers to get rid of them. It is a bit wasting time. Why not just say I am not interested at anything you are doing here? And say "Goodbye" to them! It is more direct to get rid of them!

I thought the OP was going to sit people down and start talking to them about Bitcoin if they try to sell anything to them.

It could be a great strategy for Jehovah Witnesses and Mormons. Ok great tell me about your magical Mormon man and I will tell you about Bitcoin.

Haha i really hate cold callers also but if we made it even easier for them to earn a comission (which you have here) you will have even more showing up on your door.

In the UK we have a 2008 trading standards act which doesn't completely stop the cold callers but since i put stickers up on my door about it they haven't knocked in months.

Cold callers are a major pain in the arse i feel bad for people getting hit with them.  They are like real life spam.

I think I hate telemarketers more...  Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry

Some of them phone from places in another time zone... I get phone calls or Sms's at the weirdest times.

Next time, I am going to play along... and when it comes down to payment... I will demand for payment to be done in Bitcoin.

Once they get the hang of it, and switch to Bitcoin... I will just switch to another shitcoin to shake them off.

I never answer the door, don't answer the landline, never respond to a call that isn't in my contacts and burn most of my post. Lord knows what wonderful opportunities have passed me by. And there's probably a couple of death warrants I've failed to respond to as well.

You could definitely write something to do this for you /  automate it. You would probably have to link it to some kind of FIAT conversion first
