While i was on the blockchain homepage i randomly clicked on one of the recent transactions
it lead me to this wallet https://blockchain.info/address/1GX28yLjVWux7ws4UQ9FB4MnLH4UKTPK2z

Weird looking one... total received 50 million dollars..

The interesting part is the payments received though, there is some sort of pattern

Any idea who or what could own this wallet?

I don't think anyone would know except the receivers and senders.

I'm guessing that would have to be an exchange. One input with 700 BTC going to hundreds/thousands of other addresses, that isn't a normal transaction for an individual or small group. At first I thought it was FACTOM but the amounts are too large, so my best guess is it's an exchange wallet.

It seems to be tainted with coins from Mt Gox. It could be some of the stolen BTC, though even if it is I doubt the current owner has any idea.

Maybe a trading wallet, or mixer wallet. We don't know who has that wallet except the sender. You can manipulate your total received if you send and receive again and again.

yes, we should notice the warning, that this bitcoin address contains transactions which may be double spends. You should be extremely careful when trusting any transactions to or from this address.

How can there be double spends on there after several conformations? I thought they would be wiped if they didn't get into the longest chain..

First , its an address, not a wallet.

Second, why the fuck does it matter who owns it?

You should go to your bank and ask them to show you their fund... if you have too much free time, idiot.

Yes im bored, i have nothing to do, so i come here and post s*** when im high.

This is not true. The "wallet" MtGoxAndOthers on walletexplorer.com is essentially a catch all wallet for addresses that are linked together from coinjoin-like transactions. As more and more 'wallets' use coinjoin like services they will most likely be linked to that wallet.

Walletexplorer.com really should use some kind of filtering to attempt to exclude coinjoin-like transactions when spend linking addresses together.

The address appears to be likely either belonging to F2Pool, or a miner who mines on F2Pool, however IMO the chances are probably greater that it belongs to the former considering that many inputs that it spends are roughly 25 BTC (the likely block reward that f2pool receives from finding blocks) and that it spends the entire amount of inputs associated with the address (e.g. does not give change back to itself, and spends multiple inputs), yet it receives multiple transactions from what is likely f2pool, and appears to spend funds to a large number of addresses, likely to their miners.

Like some of the previous replies have said, it has got to be a business of some kind. I doubt so much that this is anybody's personal wallet.

At first glance it reminded me of one of them "Your BTC times 100" ponzi  websites when you view their transactions.

There's  a number of logical explanations for it though mind you.

The wallet belongs to somebody called MtGoxAndothers. Bitcoin can e a dangerous tool too, as it cannot be tracked. But there is nothing in this world that is not hackable, nothing could always stay protected, no walls are so high that they can never be climbed.

I'm not sure how to understand this. Does it mean we should just wait for more confirmations? And if yes, then how much would be enough?

Well, what if somebody handed you 100 note which had its serial number tracked back to an undercover sting operation which was in charge of uncovering terrorist cells by tracing where the money went within the network?  Fungibility shouldn't be an issue but it can be sometimes.

it lead me to this wallet https://blockchain.info/address/1GX28yLjVWux7ws4UQ9FB4MnLH4UKTPK2z

Weird looking one... total received 50 million dollars..

The interesting part is the payments received though, there is some sort of pattern

Any idea who or what could own this wallet?
most probably those are somehow stolen coins or something like that also such huge amount of money must have been sent by a very rich person or a crime maker in my opinion

i actually doubt that any one will know whose is this address except for the owner, though it also might have been a huge bitcoin mining company that invested a lot and now mine a lot

My browser couldn't handle that number of transactions. (Guess I should get additional memory.  Cheesy)
That's quite overwhelming.

Bitcoin transactions are anonymous so no one know that who is the owner of this address, even the sender to this address is also not aware that actually what is the name and contact address of that person.

Its a bitcoin talk forum,  i dont think youre informing anyone of anything by pointing that out.

I like to review interesting wallets like this but more often than not they are just exchanges.

If what you claim is true then that means its from mining pool, an exchange wallet can  also be the case but they always retain some balance to pay off withdrawals.

Interesting. During all this time, It always kept a balance close in BTC, but was sometimes emptied. Which demonstrates that it is a cold wallet address of some company that needs to be easily auditable.

The reality will not be far from what every other commenters have said, the wallet may belong to an exchange or a cloud mining company cause this are the only two such that is capable of receiving huge deposits as this. But the i identity can only be proved by only the sender or the receiver since we operate a decentralized system of transactions on blockchain.

no way to know, you can never be sure if even anybody says 'I own that address" - but may be it is the address for any mining company or any whale, or any exchange.

There is no doubt on my side that this wallet belong to an exchange.
This huge number of bitcoin is really normal with some exchange.
But still there will be noone to know exactly but the person who holds the password/private key of the wallet.

I think that large amount belongs to a large investor who is in cryptocurrency to get a profit. it is not a strange thing in crypto, that is natural because in crypto, especially bitcoin has a lot of investors with large amounts of money.

Good question. Unfortunately, almost no blockchain explorer (think of walletexplorer.com, ethplorer.io etc.) gives you that info.  Undecided Even advanced blockchain investigation tools such as c-hound.ai do not have public address labeling (big exchanges are not taken into account - everybody knows them), at least for now.
