I love rap music. I like the old rap songs like Ghetto Gospel, To live and die in LA and Changes from Tupac, and I also like Getting’ Jiggy wit it and Miami from Will Smith. I also listen to German and Italian rap music. There are a lot of great tracks  Smiley

I used to listen to hiphop 88 to about 98 and then it lost its cool for me.
Stopped listening for a stretch and found I was no longer so angry,or it could have been the Rave scene that did it.
Getting old mellows you out, always used to laugh thinking of myself in a old age home bumping Too Short.

I did like old school rap when I was younger, it was the best driving music for me. But lost respect to all those "artists" when learned that most of them are morons.

The only ones that I still like and somewhat respect are ice-t, ice-cube and maybe public enemy. Rest is shit.

Rap is not music, by definition. It has no tune.

It MIGHT count as chanting, in some cases.

Way too many rap "artists" are ripoffs (this is not unique to rap, but was very common for a while).
 M. C. Hammer "Can't Touch This" ripping off Rick James "Superfreak" was probably the best known and extreme example, but nowhere near unique.
"Sampling" without paying royalties or giving credit is a ripoff.

It IS possible for a rap group to show class - reference how RunDMC not only credited Aerosmith when they covered "Walk This Way", they also had Perry and Tyler in the performance with them AND in the music video. VERY classy act that.

Rap CAN be successfully mixed with music. Faith No More, "Epic" among others.

The original rapper was Dr. Seuss. "Green Eggs and Ham" as covered by Moxy Fruvous is VERY interesting. (No, that's not a joke. Look it up.)

I am, however, firmly in the camp as a general rule that "The C in rap is silent". Think about it for a minute. Just SAY it, don't spell it.

I'm no longer legendary just in my own mind!
