I bought in a few months ago, and now wish to cash out. For offers to purchase $1000 worth or more I'll offer a 10% discount to that day's market price, and for my entire stock a 20% discount. I'm open to your suggestion of preferred payment method and mechanism, but won't work via PayPal for these kinds of amounts.

I advise caution for any newbies reading the above offer. Make very sure it's valid before sending any money.

Why don't you just sell those bitcoins at your discounted rate on Mt. Gox?

Hello McGruder,

Is that possible? I would love to do that! When I looked in their trade data history I was seeing amounts for $10, $100, and maybe in the hundreds, but nothing like my amount. I just presumed no one was trading in the amount that I have there. I really don't know a lot about bitcoin, I basically bought some as a punt awhile back and want to cash out now whilst I'm ahead.

Would love to hear your thoughts on the liquidity!
Cheers,
Marc

Make sure to use the dark pool so as not to spoil the market for everyone else, and you included

I think there are enough bids on bitcoins at or above 7.20USD/BTC (20% of 9USD/BTC) to make it happen. I recommend making your ask order with the "Dark pool and Normal" setting. I suppose if someone wants to take you up on your offer outside of Mt. Gox, you could just can just cancel your Mt. Gox sell order.

A mere $10,000 will hardly make a dent on the market. Based on a glance at https://mtgox.com/trade/history - Depth of Market, at the time of this writing you can sell them at >$8.8 / BTC. I don't think a dark pool is needed.

I too raise a flag of suspicion on this offer.

Perhaps what raised the red flag for me was the fact that the offer is denominated in dollars and not BTC, at a rate well below the threshold of what it would take to sell instantly.

But if someone can acquire these safely, it's obviously a fantastic deal.  If for real, OP should just sell on MtGox, will yield more that way just as quickly.

Companies claiming they got hacked and lost your coins sounds like fraud so perfect it could be called fashionable.  I never believe them.  If I ever experience the misfortune of a real intrusion, I declare I have been honest about the way I have managed the keys in Casascius Coins.  I maintain no ability to recover or reproduce the keys, not even under limitless duress or total intrusion.  Remember that trusting strangers with your coins without any recourse is, as a matter of principle, not a best practice.  Don't keep coins online. Use paper or hardware wallets instead.

That's misleading. $10k will move it at least 50 cents I'm pretty sure. That's better for him than the 20 percent off he's offering, but it's definitely enough to make a dent (probably a mostly temporary one).

Right now $10k would just barely crack $10. From $9.90.
