The whole trial was a joke... almost every tactic in the book was used to stop information coming out weaken the states case.

The Agents stole some of the coins, and it was buried until the end of the trail.

They used methods to make him look like a murderer to strengthen their case, and to make a example of him. {If you challenge the system, they will destroy you}

Yes, He was guilty... but they were out to destroy him and everything he stood for.  Angry

I think that most people do not fully appreciate the loss of freedom in america from the bush administration.  And Mr. Hope and Change didn't actually change anything, he is just more of the same nonsense.  It is so easy for the cops to break the law now, by invoking some pretty strange rules.  But I guess this is the government we all chose.  If you want a better government then stop getting your politics from half time commercials Wink

Not just the cops. The judge also broke every law on the books. Katherine B. Forrest, the Judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York sentenced Ross Ullbricht to life in prison without parole, although the prosecution was asking for a lower sentence. And things don't end there. She is planning to prosecute those people, who commented against her on various blogs and websites.

On reddit I saw a post by a disgruntled girlfriend of the mentor of ross ulbricht. She claimed to be that ross ulbricht wasn't the actual dread pirate roberts for some 9 months until this guy saw the heat coming and gave ross the reigns or smtg like that.

Basically he was given the Emperor Palpatine treatment, where he was set up to take the fall, while the Sith Lord kept in the shadows.

Another troll story...?

Well, although the judge is accepting all the 7 cases even without decent proving, Ross will go to jail anyway.
He knew and everybody knew that what was begin sold on SilkRoad some were illegal things.
It's like those stupid cases when famous people demands that Google removes content about them, even if Google is not the author of the sites/blogs/postings.

I kind of expected it that they would make an example out of Ross.
And that is exactly what happened.
Life without parole is the worst he could get.

We will see what happens if there is an appeal.

Shouldn't that mean that Ross Ulbricht can now start a case to defend himself, attacking the old decision i mean?

I'm sure a new trail will come with some much being left out and now the agent pleading guilty, is a matter of time before an appeal judge will grant Ross a new day in court base on all the key proof that was left out and all the corruption in the system.

I don't know the case but i hope he didn't sign something in order to get a lower sentence. It could mean a big problem to him then. Imagine him getting asked why he want's a revision when he explained, out of his free will, that he did all things.

This case will be pored over by a lot of people for a long time to come. I'm sure an ever increasing number of holes and oversights will emerge. It's only just starting to warm up.

There might be a lot of holes but the US gov wont care. They got their man by any means necessary and that's all that matters to them. I feel a bit sorry for Lynn Ulbricht. Ross is clearly guilty and the most they can hope for is a reduction in sentence but he still wont get out until he's an old man and that's the best case scenario.

That's the key bit. If he was buried on the basis of multiple fudgings, mistakes and lies then a little opening emerges for appeals.

Personally I think he's dick who deserved to go down, but anyone looking at how it played out would be hard pressed to say he got a fair trial.

Even if you're caught with a vat of boiling school children, you still have that right.
