It's just a natural impulse, I don't do it consciously, and I'm wondering if deep down my brain is finally hopeful again.

Yeah I've also gone in and out of the habit of checking BTC's price throughout the day, to less frequently. Perhaps it's your subconscious processing vast amounts of information akin to a supercomputer and finding it reasonable to have more interest.

I'm also thinking about having it permanently on my desktop, and I'm taking it further by considering getting a smart phone Bitcoin price app so I can check the price wherever I am. I'm always wondering what the rice is doing when I'm away from my computer.

Electrum shiws the updated price in their wallet app. It's pretty handy

I have a free app on the phone called bitcoin ticker.  it is just a small display of a number with an indication of if the trend is up, down, or unchanged.  
every time I go to use the phone, the current bitcoin value is in my face.  very convenient.

I usually check the Wall Observer thread after I've checked the price because it's good for finding out the latest news. It's always easy to find right at the top. Chart buddy keeps it at the top even if nobody else has posted, and he makes it easy to compare the prices on Bitfinex. Bitstamp, and Coinbase.

It was worse at the time where the price was around 1k +-. But its somewhat stable relatively to that period, thus checking it lesser nowadays.

Its a nice habit to pick up on.

But thats really for day traders in my view or traders who are dependent heavily on movement prices. I look at the price every few 2 days, or happen to not check it at all for entire week. Obviously im not a trader.

I have the paranoid android app.... spent 2013 getting woken up to the happy green alarm, and 2014 getting woken up to the angry red alarm....2015 has been pretty quiet so I often go weeks without noticing the price. Would very much like to start getting woken again to the happy "you're getting richer" alarm!

I am only registered with Apple as a developer.  I wouldn't be able to write a single line of code for Android.  If an android developer ever steps forward, I would love to provide them with everything they need to build it.
