So, I have a medium Priority transaction that is not confirming, I know I have to wait but just wanted to know if this is happened to any of you and how long have you actually waited?... I have read that it can take up to a week if you dont pay any fees, but I did, I paid the normal fee that Electrum charges me and it was always fine, only this time it is "medium priority" Anywayz, here is the transaction: https://blockchain.info/tx/ca044196bde76b52dc49f3f3b4d3f4c1ae493d92fa4f5b45dd35ec1ca9fbc33a Thanks!

The waiting time depends, it happened to me 3 hours one time.

i think it can take even more than 12 hours to get confirmed because of such big transaction size, you will be lucky if it will be confirmed after a few hours in my opinion

Yeah is weird, normally I pay 0.0001 fee or even less and it gets confirmed rather quick, this time I paid 0.00009 and its taking ageeeeeeeees!

There's been the 'stress testing' that's been happening today. I don't know how organised it's been or whether it had much effect. I didn't pay much attention. I guess the people who really wanted to get past that accounted for it and stuck a higher fee in.

Oh was that today? I thought it was last week...well if my transaction got cought in the middle of a stress test I guess I could be waiting a while haha. Not sure what the point of this tests are, I suppose they benefit the miners who receive higher fees

Then one today. I don't know what they hope to achieve but that's the most likely reason you're getting held up.

How long does the blockchain stress take? I saw a thread here about this but how long? I am not sure, until they decide to stop I guess, until they proove their point, whatever that is.. With all this going on lately I have been finding litecoin more and more attractive..

another stress testing? They should be rare, and now they are really prejudicing the users. Few more in such short time and they should be called stress attacks

To answer this question (I know it has been confirmed now), you really need 0.0002 BTC in fees to be competitive. Most places use 0.0001 BTC or higher. When you go lower than 0.0001, I believe it's almost the equivalent to not adding any fees at all (i.e., sending the transaction with NO fees). That said, they will still confirm, once it's gotten to the point where its age has brought it to a more "desirable" state.

That said, they will still confirm, once it's gotten to the point where its age has brought it to a more "desirable" state. It depends on the size of the transaction and network load. 0.00001/kb is fine for non urgent transactions while 0.0001/kb is better for fast transactions. However, the network load can still affect the confirmation speed seen from the recent stress test and most people had to pay 0.0002BTC/kb to get fast confirmations.
