Coins are all gone except the one @ auction!

LAST ONE! Are you willing to share what the MS68 1BTCs went for? Might encourage more interest in your auction...  Grin

Little over 4BTC - Only 2 were let go of...auction being the 3rd. One of the 2 was actually a trade for other coins.

And your silver/gold MS68 from a while back went for about that much. Good to know, thanks.

Curious how many more 68+ are in your personal collection and haven't gone on the chopping block...?
In order to get the maximum amount of activity points possible, you just need to post once per day on average. Skipping days is OK as long as you maintain the average.

I think the last one was sold for far more and didn't include shipping.   Might have to bump up your bid.

He has a lot more than you think.

He might just be making room for all the 1000BTC coin?

Nah just selling of some...I would never liquidate my entire collection. I love these coins too much to sell my private stash off  Tongue

Dazed: I have no "extra" Silver/Golds that are graded that high for sale. I do have a couple not graded getting ready to be sent in though.

Are any coin grading firms beyond ANACS accepting these coins?

There is NGS(?), however they are nowhere near as reputable as ANACS, and they tend to give out higher grades (usually at least one grade higher), so people tend to not seek out highly graded coins they grade quite as much

Quickseller, I think the opposite is true in the numismatic world. NGC and PSGS are ranked really highly while ANACS and others are ranked as average. See this survey -> http://www.bestcoin.com/Rating-Coin-Grading-Services.htm

The real question is which of these accept bitcoin for grading. I've only seen ANACS slabs. Maybe I'll send a note to NGC and see what they're willing to do.

Take a look at this thread. Pistachio had coind that was grade MS069, and MS68 by ICG. Blazedout later sent the coin to ANACS and they scored MS66 and MS67, which is two whole grades below what ICG gave them (which is a large difference).

My understanding si that ACACS and ICG are #3 and #4 in the coin grading world, however #1 and #2 will generally not grade physical crypto coins  Sad

Thanks for coming around, sounds like NGC and PCGS may be #1 and #2 in the business (there's only 5 or so widely known coin grading firms). What I'm getting at is if NGC and PCGS are more highly regarded in the coin world then a physical bitcoin graded by them could command a higher premium for sales.

Y'all are correct.  I've been doing this coin collecting thing for quite a while, my passions are toned silver and Ike's.

In any case PCGS and NGC are very closely #1 and #2, and in some cases they flip flop that ranking.  For example for Ike's it's widely recognized that PCGS is "harder" on them, and anything in their plastic is usually seems as at least half a grade, if not more, higher than NGC.  On the flip side, NGC seems to do a better job with some other types where you would trust their grades a little more.

ANACS is a solid third.  Their grades are usually seen as 1 lower than the top two in general.  However, they certify an astounding number of varieties, errors, and as we see with the case with Bitcoin, more tokens and medals than the others. ANACS used to be top dog a long time ago, but their grading has come down, I guess most of the top graders are lured to the other two over them.

ICG is a very distant fourth.  Their grades are usually seen as 1 below ANACS and 2-3 below the top guys.  There's very little they get right, and typically you'll use them if you want to fool a newbie into thinking he's buying a really good coin when really it's not.

Then there's the basement graders, like SEGS, SGS, PCI, and the list goes on.  Stick to the top three if at all possible.

Oh, and the most important mantra - "buy the coin, not the slab".  That goes both ways... You could see a coin in hand that doesn't warrant the grade, or one that is clearly under graded.

Good luck, happy hunting... Smiley
