In multibit..where can I see what my public key is?

Multibit won't show you because the devs believe users are stupid and will be confused. If you want to see lyour addresses and balances use Electrum.

AFAIK There is no option to see public key in Multibit. Note that, I have not used recent versions.

To get your public key:

• Export your private key.
• Download https://www.bitaddress.org/ and use it locally
• Open BitAddress.org html file and input your private key in 'Wallet details'.
  
• You can copy public key either in the uncompressed format(65-byte) or the compressed format(33-byte).

The address is the hash of the public key with a bit extra information (version number, checksum) in base58.

What do you mean? I didn't understand correctly. You don't have the address you think is yours in your Multibit wallet?

A public key is a 256 bit number if compressed (or a 256 bit x coordinate and 256 bit y coordinate of a point if not compressed) calculated from the private key using ECDSA with the Secp256k1 curve.

A BTC address is a hash of a public key with a version number prepended, a checksum appended, and then Base58Check encoded.

You can see the other addresses in your wallet in the 'Payment details' wizard.

When you create a Payment Request it has the address, your comment, the amount you want etc.
It then appears in the Payments table as a payment request.
You can double click on it and see the address as text, with a button next to it to see a QR code (plus all the other details you entered)

Then when a payment is made to that payment request the two are matched together. (Reconciliation in accountancy speak).
If you double click on the payment you see the 'Payment details' wizard.
This has various screens that show, in turn:
1) The transaction's status, who is it to, description etc
2) The amounts, in bitcoin and fiat
3) The transaction id, a link to a block explorer, and the raw transaction
4)  The payment request that it matches to.

You can also search for any text you put on the payment request (or the address itself) in the Payments search bar and only the payments that match the search term appear.

edit: we don't show the private keys anywhere on the UI no. This is by design. I don't think we even use the term 'private key' anywhere (except in the wallet capabilities text in the wallet dashboard) just as you never see 'SQL table name' on a bank web app.

I have no problem with you being rude - freedom of expression and all that - but please be accurately rude.
You've misled a new user as to the capabilities of the software they are using which isn't useful.
