The Republican Texas Governer Greg Abbot accepts bitcoin in his campaign
https://www.gregabbott.com/bitcoin/
He is a potential 2016 candidate, but its great news that a possible president could directly support bitcoin.
Rand Paul also supports it, and he is one of the frontrunners, definitely top 3 or 5 depending on the polled people.
If a president directly supports, accepts, and understands it, maybe we can get some better laws, and more use usability and awareness!
I think this is good guys

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

Personally I think the fact that they accept bitcoin is nothing more than a ploy to attract some whales to contribute in the false premise that these people actually care about bitcoin.

I don't think they care one single iota how the funds come in, just as long as it does. Like any business saying we accept Amex, Visa, MC, PayPal, well basically anything you have that can transfer some of your funds to us.....

Yes it is positive for bitcoin to get the name out there and it gives it more credibility but one should not assume that these people 'care' for bitcoin and or that they are pro bitcoin. Once in office they will do what is expected of them.

PS: I also accept bitcoin  Grin

It is always great to hear that more and more politicians are accepting the Bitcoin donations. But as per the current rules and regulations, the maximum amount which one can donate using Bitcoins is $100 (correct me if I am wrong). Also, individuals using Bitcoin to donate need to present some form of identification while making the payment.

This campaign will make more and more people aware of Bitcoin.I see it positive and healthy for Bitcoin more than electoral campaign of Abbot's.I don't say it will gear the price of the Bitcoin but it will help to be adopted by large number is coming weeks and will begin to be used by masses at gross root level .
