This may have been done before but let's do it again. I'll start:

Wolf of Wall Street: they needed to physically move cash to Switzerland so they literally tied hundred dollar bills to a Swiss-American girl's body and had her take planes to Switzerland. Main character is eventually busted because one of his partners is caught transporting this cash to the Swiss girl's boyfriend. Partner then turns on him.

Could've slowly just bought bitcoin and either kept it in bitcoin or sold bitcoin for cash in Switzerland and put it in the bank in Switzerland. No cash smuggling or smuggling partners necessary.

Year 2021
Bitcoin Supply: ~90% mined
Supply Inflation: <1.8%

Stupid move! Why not convert cash to btc and send the btc to the paperwallet? You only need to carry a paper! No one would know what it is!

I don't know of any exchange that could handle the amount of money wolf of wall street was making. Buying so many BTC on a regular basis would do wonders to the price I'm sure. Of course since they were shady crooked investors they could very well have become the first Mt Gox.

If someone wanted to be totally anonymous in some cash <-> BTC I guess they could hunt down every BTC ATM

To be true, still lots of population all over the world do not know about Bitcoin yet, I do not know how to calculate the percentage of Bitcoin users all over the world, perhaps might get that information through the Blockchain ledger, What if the many bitcoin users utilize it for multiple times. However can anyone tell, how many active Bitcoin user in percentage wise are present till date ?

Blockchain has plenty of charts, they're pushing 4 million wallets hosted there. However no way to know how many are unique users.

Juniper research estimates only 1.3 million users in 2014 and 5 million users by 2019

local bitcoin is your friend, or try any other decentralized exchaange like bitshares, i don't someone care about money laundering there

but perhaps there could be some chances to find someone from IRS that is investigating about people that are evading the law...

In the movie, they wanted to shift millions of dollars. None of the guys on Localbitcoins would be willing to trade for that amounts. Once you are there, flags would be raised, if you deposit that amount of cash.

The banks in Switzerland is also not that cool to help with money laundering these days.

The Swiss laws has become more strict and in some instances they are working with USA to prevent terrorism.

If they knew about Bitcoin they wouldn't have gone to Switzerland either. Why needing to convert to cash, they can just hold BTC forever.

This film is set in the 80's btw.

With all the mass surveillance it would be risky to use localbitcoins and ATM's don't take millions cash. Even TOR is not safe to use. It may also have been an invention of the US army to make believe people could be anonymous. Until they will start to use their backdoors and trace everything. Get ready to be raided at 5 in the morning.

Well, there is a possibility that the guy they hired to inspect packages or something, identified the QR paper wallet address as a Bitcoin address.
The ultimate way to do this would be to memorize a brainwallet, then there's no way in hell they would know, because the money is literally in your brain Smiley

An encrypted private key could be embedded in a picture of your dog that's floating around on imgur or photobucket. There is no limit to the number of ways it can be taken across borders.
