As a very recent victim of a scam on lbc too I'm especially sympathetic to OP's situation.

My case was nowhere near as bad as this and was heavily facilitated by very dumb moves on my side.

Curiously I believe the guy was german (according to lbc has a german ip and german phone).

My suggestions:

Bribe someone at the McD if you have to but get that video and post it online.

Try to get a video of the outside and try to find the car if he really had one.

The phone seems very important to me.

Iphone 4 is not a typical burner. Unless he bought it on his way to the McD the police may learn a lot about his last moves using cell phone tower triangulation, gps, wifi networks, etc...

I was on holiday ( that was also a reason for the trade to have cash for holiday )...
Koblenzer Straße 2-4 in Köln was the MC.

I still have the emails, we wrote about the amounts, he wrote that he is inside the MC, we wrote about the volume... so he couldn't tell the police that he don't know anything about bitcoins or something like that. And for what reason he would leave his stuff in the MC and run away?

I have a feeling the people who are commenting in this thread, one of them may be the thief  Roll Eyes

Roll Eyes

No news from police or from something else...

How did the police react to the bitcoin "thing"?

Do you feel they are taking it seriously?

Do they have the video footage?

Any progress with the cell phone?

the best thing is that you can either salvage what the iphone and the laptop.

if theres no evidence being used for the cops, or else its pointless.

as for the people who lack compassion for people using bitcoin, shame on you. you know simple mistakes happen or like transactional error amounts or importing into a old address you cant find.

theres a million ways to lose it, but yeah in the future just test 1 btc to confirm. Its better to let the other party wait it out so you know its all good.

how does events like this happen.. such a big amount.

I`m sure the op feels like crap already, but I would split the amounts like what others have mentioned like by 1-10 btc at a time.

So that means your also a potential suspect?  Cheesy

I dont think anyone would want to come back on this forum for awhile if they had 74 btc, they would be spending some of that btc on nice things for themself.

oh sorry to here that. but i think theres no chance to take back your btc.
or it has .01% of chance... when the cameras in mcdonald take the face of it.
and when the policeman got the guy. then he still have the btc in his. then you can take it back.
but i doubt it. i wonder dont he have any information about himself in the laptop or iphone that
he left to you? and its so crazy that you meet him and he still scammed you. your not being careful my friend.
well goodluck. hope you still can take it.

We are talking for ~18,000 USD worth of bitcoin, and a fingerprint scan from police is necessary. I am interested if they catch the thief yet?

Try Opening his email account stuffs and and all.... Try to find the usual ip address from which he logs in with his comp... U may get some evidence...Also try his iphone contacts... Fuck that scammer... And get his home behind the jails.....

Also use some forensic softwares to recover deleted items that may help too
