"South Carolina House votes to remove Confederate flag from state house grounds"

"Early Thursday, the House of Representatives voted 94-20 to remove it, giving final approval to a bill that passed the Senate earlier in the week. "

Just needs the Governor to sign it into law now.

Nice

But sadly, we know many of these bigots were only shamed by the example of the truly Christian example of this black church's forgiveness of these racist murderers and their bigoted supporters, and many personally cheered these murders!!

We know these bigots are unlikely truly change their spots, but the children of these parents will be more likely to learn the a chance to stop idolizing the descendants and supporters of slave owners and slavery!

Licit choice and in the present context, it's positive [and politically correct].

What probably I still find a bit disturbing is that they decide this after decades and decades that such a symbol is around [also in South Carolina]. As usual, I don't appreciate decisions taken following an emotional wave .

The American flag is everyone's flag... it's not going anywhere.. the Confederates lost the war.... time to move on.

Losers do not get to fly their flags on the governments lawn

Hopefully the anti-confederate flag loons will stop with just having it taken off of the statehouse grounds, and won't try to ban it everywhere.

And yet that flag offends people. Should we get rid of it as well?

Yes, it's been 50 years in the making, but hopefully, another vestige of a rather disturbing period will be moved to a more appropriate place, the Confederate Relic Room and Military Museum, near the Capitol. And perhaps in the next 50 or so years, the last living KKK member will peacefully pass away and that chapter can also be closed.

Of course you feel the same about groups like the NBPP and La Raza right?

If the Confederate Flag should be on public land, so should the Black Power flag.

I guess that whole massacre-black-folks-at-church thing didn't tun out as planned for the master racers. It might - just might, possibly, maybe, perhaps - be that the vast and overwhelming number of Americans thought it was a horrible and terrible thing and that they don't hate their fellow citizens as much as some on this board would like to think. But I'm sure that the storm frontiers here obsessed with AF-Ams will just chalk it up to political correctness run amok and imposed by ( fill in conspiratorial blank). I've noticed a doubling (or more. If that is possible) of "blacks-are-bad and blacks-victimizing-whites" threads on this site since the Charleston massacre. Utterly predictable.

It figures that people that supported the Confederate flag would now say the American flag offends them.... but too bad for them, it's the American flag all the peoples flag, it represents freedom and liberty for all.

So true. Michelle Obama will probably always keep the same views since she is a descendant of slave owners.
