Well you can scan the QR code from your PC screen it should allow you to do that (if you have receive option on your wallet) . What phone are you using if it's Android then you should give Mycelium a shoot it's a pretty good wallet and they also give you the adress and not only QR code , you have also the ability to buy & sell bitcoins depends on your location just like Localbitcoins

It should allow you to create receiving addresses which can be displayed as QR codes, copied into the clipboard, or sent using an e-mail program. Mycelium does that, as mentioned, but any serious wallet app should have this option somewhere. Onkel Paul

It is unusual for the wallet on your phone to only give you a qr code. Which wallet are you using?
Anyway, a solution is to scan the qr code with another phone (assuming it has a qr code app) and email the address to your pc.

Excellent. And just fwiw, don't use blockchain. Don't use online wallets. Keep your private keys in your possession.

I wouldn't bother with Bitcoin Core either. Download multibit instead and send the coins to that address. You sound like a new user and would have no need to run the whole blockchain.

Thanks man, for letting us know about Mycellium, I have just installed in my android, let me get into it and see further how good it works. It's very good, one of the best if not the best. Like Iahm said, be sure to back up. Coins will be on your physical phone. Don't lose your phone. You can also spend from a paper wallet without compromising the paper wallet so it is the easiest way to spend from cold storage.

last version of core was the only safe one with the blockchain split issue, i would say i wouldn't bother with any other wallet in the future, and only using core and always its last version Thank you all for your reply:-) i'm going to try mycelium now and it gives me the adress i need, i think this should work. the other wallets like blockchain doesn't do this. i let you know if it worked.
Thanks.
you can use a wallet called bitcoin wallet, if you use android, it is among the best

I'm not much of a fan of phone wallets but i have to say Mycellium is the most friendly one i guess is the one i like, but a work around for this is just to screenshot your qrcode and save it in your pc so every time you need to send btc to your phone you dont have the same problem.
You could always try the Xapo wallet webclient and cell phone client are connected so no need to go through all that.

That's some nifty website i didn't know till now. I'll use it from now on for these cases. Though i sometimes have another problem. Getting a bitcoin address i got sent via whatsapp to my notebook. Sure, i could copy it in a file and connect the smartphone with the notebook, then read the file. And i don't want to use my notebooks webcam. So is there a quick way?
