Introducing the NuDroid Mobile Wallet

Download NuDroid now at the Google Play appstore
NuDroid works on Android devices with version 4.04 and higher

The world's first mobile digital currency wallet that
can pay for goods and services with a stable digital currency

BTCitcoin is convenient. NuBits are stable. NuDroid is both!

NuDroid is the first mobile and stable cryptocurrency wallet which can be used to pay for goods and services at the point of sale.
Pay with your stable NuBits anywhere Bitcoin is accepted without being exposed to Bitcoin's volatility.

NuDroid is not an exchange and doesn't require the merchant to access an exchange. NuDroid just uses the popular
Shapeshift.io service to easily and transparently exchange your NuBits to Bitcoin in seconds.

NuDroid is open source, free of advertisements and no registration is required.

Main Features NuDroid

NuDroid is Convenient
Use your stable NuBits to pay directly to a merchant’s Bitcoin and altcoins’ addresses. It is very easy to use. NuDroid clearly shows you and the receiver how much you are paying both in NuBits and Bitcoin or real-world currency. It allows merchants to trust that the value they are receiving is accurate. NuDroid can scan QR codes from all supported coins including Bitcoin. Paying with any digital currency has never been this convenient!

NuDroid is Secure and Fast
Your wallet can be protected with a password and your cryptographic keys remain secure on your mobile device. You have full control to select your own set of peers to customize your security. We've ensured that there is a fast first-time wallet synchronization by creating a lightweight copy of the blockchain. Best of all, you only need to synchronize with the secure NuBits blockchain as opposed to multiple digital currency blockchains. This saves storage capacity on your device and increases the overall speed of NuDroid.

NuDroid is Safe
When you start using NuDroid, take care to backup the encrypted NuDroid wallet. You can automatically choose to send the backup to your email address or to store it on an USB stick. With your backup safely stored you can never lose your coins in case your device is wiped or stolen. If that happened, you would simply install the app again and restore the backup and your balance will show up again.

NuDroid is Free and Respects Your Privacy
We'll keep it simple: NuDroid is free to use. You don’t need to register for a service to use NuDroid for payments. We don’t charge you anything on top of the usual Shapeshift exchange rates for paying at a Bitcoin merchant, and you only pay the NBT fee (currently 0.01 NBT) for a NuBits transaction. Neither NuDroid nor Shapeshift collects your personal data. NuDroid is free of advertisements.

NuDroid is Versatile and Easy to Use
NuDroid can be run on all Android devices including tablets, supporting 4.x and higher. It can export your transactions to a comma delimited file for personal record-keeping. This record-keeping is made even easier because NuDroid keeps the coin addresses of all supported coins in its address book. It is easy to add a description to these addresses so you can remember what you paid for.

NuDroid is Open Source
NuDroid has nothing to hide and we are happy to share. We hope you may even contribute to improve NuDroid even further. Find the source code here or join the NuDroid developer chat on Gitter. Don’t trust closed source wallets!

The NuDroid App works very similar to this basic Bitcoin wallet App (https://github.com/schildbach/bitcoin-wallet) which is around for a while and is still being developed. The concepts are the same, but we had it enhanced with the stable NuBits and seamless Shapeshift technology.

We are currently testing with some Noobs, and the main issues to date are the new concepts as QR codes and addresses. With more comprehensive NFC integration (and merchant adoption) to replace QR codes and working with aliases for bitcoin addresses, we think further improvements can be made. I'm very curious to feedback from others of what can be done without a complete overhaul of the current design.

Edit: for those interested in more NuDroid technical details and release notes: https://github.com/Cybnate/cybnate.github.io/blob/master/Android/Specs%20NuDroid.md

It would be better if you publish its source on github. As then people will trust it a lot more.

It has been open source from the beginning. You might have missed the published link in the last paragraph of the OP.

NuDroid v4 is now available for testing.

All the goodies from the previous version plus the ability to use your own server instead of the default server as NuDroid backend. With that you can have increased resilience and no longer trust is required in a 3rd party back-end server such as the current default server.
One of the few mobile wallets with that ability. Until now only PC bound wallets could provide that.

Please check out the link when you are keen to participate in the testing: https://discuss.nubits.com/t/nudroid-v4-release-candidate-now-available-for-testing/2436
When all goes well the new version will be available on Google Play in 7-10 days time.

Release notes v4:

  • The ability to add more than one trusted server to the App to allow users to set up their own trusted server besides the default server
  • Allow prioritisation and fall-back to these trusted servers to increase resiliency of the App.

Please have a look at https://docs.nubits.com/nudroid/ about the Android wallet for all current functionality.

Now you can also chat about NuDroid on Gitter: https://gitter.im/Cybnate/NuDroid

Is it similar to coinomi?
Yes and no. Both use the Shapeshift integration, however the Coinomi wallet can also hold many coins (multi-wallet) and has an built-in exchange capability.

Whereas the NuDroid wallet holds only the stable value NuBits, but would seamlessly convert them to another coin only when required on payment.
It is also more feature rich with address book, export function etc. It feels more like a real wallet imo.

Do you prefer a video to provide a quick overview of what NuDroid and NuBits?
Or are you fairly new with cryptocurrencies and want to make sure your coins are safe?

Then here are two great new NuDroid videos for you:

1) The Power of NuDroid (6 minutes)
Link: https://youtu.be/E0YyRX8tnHI
Introduction to the specific functionality of NuDroid and the stable value NuBits and using it with Bitcoins or Litecoins for those who already have a wallet or used other wallets before.

2) Getting Started with a Mobile Wallet (10 minutes)
Link: ]https://youtu.be/DYfemvz2xDU]
This video gets you started if you are fairly new to crypto currencies. We demonstrate how to get started with crypto on your Android phone and how to keep your funds safe. This video covers backing up a wallet, setting a spending pin, donating funds via the integrated ShapeShift service, and restoring a backup.

Enjoy!

A number of users reported some issues with NuDroid in the last few weeks. Please update Nudroid now.
It is available on Google Play. You can also download the APK from here: https://github.com/Cybnate/NuDroid/releases/

The release fixes the following issues:

  •    A fix for styling problems on some devices mentioned here: https://discuss.nubits.com/t/nudroid-v4-now-available-on-google-play/2436/6?u=matthewlm
  •    Show error when a Shapeshift transaction fails after pressing Send.
  •    Do not stall the Shapeshift update timer when leaving the application.
  •    Improved shut-down of the Blockchain service, making certain parts of the app more responsive and fixes an Application Not Responding problem that mostly occurred whilst restoring wallet backups.
  •    Do not close the app after restoring a wallet whilst inside the app.
  •    A few rare crash bugs, and a few code improvements.
  •    Also fixes an additional issue with restoring wallets.
  •    Added a secondary server by default improving the resilience when the primary default server is not available.

Do you need support or have questions? https://gitter.im/Cybnate/NuDroid

Just released a minor update of the NuDroid App:

Here are the release notes for v4.4:
  •     Added support for py-nugetfee and therefore Nu 2.0 dynamic transaction fees. Nu 3.0 may also be compatible
  •     When restoring a wallet, show the most recent backups first.

The APK can be downloaded on: https://github.com/Cybnate/NuDroid/releases/tag/v4.4
The App will also be made available on Google Play soon.

It's a great wallet but the problem is that it's not ideal for mobile data, especially if you're from the Philippines.
It downloads the entire NuBit blockchain Smiley

Yeah I'm experiencing the same problems .The entire point of a wallet mobile app should be if should work on the mobile data that's why we especially deploy apps on phone so it's easy to load pages and have secure transactions with less next hops in a network .
