I've actually plugged in my two SP20s at least part time for the past few days. I've had all of my gear shutdown since April or May when it got hot here in the desert. But I thought I'd at least run the SP20s again for shits-and-giggles since the BTC exchange rate is up ~$300.

So, what do you experts suggest for the most efficient settings? I've look through some of the other SP20 threads for suggestions but that exact info is difficult to find.

And any pool suggestions? I used to mine at BTCguild but I was a bit surprised to see that they've completely shut down.

On pool look into antpool and change to PPS currently I believe it is 2.5 percent for it.  Which makes it cheaper then F2pool.

I like constant amount earned. Sometimes I won't go with PPS, but PPS shortterm is very nice.

Antpool you can turn it on PPS very easily and its fee's are 2.5 percent.   Just have to go into settings and change mining type.

F2pool is 4 percent for PPS.  It is a good pool aswell, but higher priced fees.

I suggest go antpool turn to PPS and enjoy the extra 1.5 percent earnings.

To OP, each SP20 is different but, the slower you run them the more "effecient" they are, like many asics.
I find that between 1200-1300GH works best for me =)

yeah but f2pool gives very high nmc payouts  antpool does not.

antpool has luck and variance

f2pool does not  you always know what you get.

If you change antpool from PPLNS to PPS it takes away luck and variance.   It makes it the same type, PPS as f2pool.

It is interesting on NMC though did not think of that.  Do they pay enough NMC to where it equals the extra 1.5 percent your using for their pool over antpool?

they give you 7 nmc for 1 btc so if nmc is 0.0036 btc  x 7 =  0.0252   which makes up for it.

they also give
 7 ioc  for 1 btc
 7 ixc  for 1 btc
 7 dvc for 1 btc

so they are a tiny bit better then antpool   .

Now I have not mined with antpool in weeks  are you sure they let you switch from pplns to pps at no extra charge?

Thanks for sharing high NMC I was not including that in my calculations.

Yes you can switch from PPLNS to PPS with no extra fees beside main fee.  And at a fee of 2.5 percent for PPS its fairly low as far as pool fee.   It's really nice being able to go from PPLNS or PPS without switching pools.

I am pretty sure it came with them wanting to beat f2pool.  But they have not done a good job of advertising you can switch to PPS on antpool, I found it by accident after reading support a few weeks back.

I evaluated the two pools after getting off GHash a while ago and, FWIW, chose F2pool over Antpool because, well... I'm having a hard time being a supporter of Bitmain at this time for their various shenanigans.

In terms of efficient (Huh) settings for SP20's, I've been running most of mine as follows with Gold-Rated power supplies.

My most efficient settings is running them at 0.6V (1000W @ wall off 2 SP20s ;Gold PSU). The hashrate per miner is 1000GH/s.

Goxed, what is your max voltage setting? I'm currently at .61V with a max of .65V and still getting 1200GHs so I probably have room to come down a bit more for better efficiency (and lower fan speed/noise!).

Cheers, thanks everyone for your SP20 settings and pool suggestions!

Xian's setup is similar to what I ran, but I ran higher fan settings (80%) even with the under-clock.  My experience with SP20's was they were more efficient when run cooler, the difference between 20 and 80 fan setting gave a few percentage reduction in wattage for same hashrate.  This is also why I ran the two rear loops at lower wattage, like Xian.

The only important variable for underclocking is the wattage. The per ASIC voltages are nothing but starting points when the ASICs fire up. If you want to limit voltage, you'd have to use "Voltage Limit (0.580-0.790)", but there's absolutely no point in that. Just use the watt settings.

I always like to do both.

But your way has benefits.

Phillip,

the SP20's only limit one way or another, whichever they hit first (voltage or wattage).  I found it easier to limit wattage for consistency/stability, as it allows them to settle to whatever voltage is required per chip to run at a specific power level and efficiency.  Doing both is somewhat redundant, especially if it never hits that voltage figure.

I like redundant when it comes to under clocking.

I used to use a very low max voltage.  and a low start voltage.

and I kept watts in the ballpark.  but to each their own
