He appears concerned with "gaming the hashes". A valid concern, considering his position. Still, this is miles from how Bitcoin was perceived last year.

This. Massively significant interview. Trotter is a historically smart guy, and Everbank is a well-known, well-respected entity within the hard money & alternative investment community. They were the first institution in the USA to offer foreign currency accounts/CDs, and would be a natural candidate to be the first to offer BTC-denominated accounts/CDs. It's a fantastic revelation (better than Gavin's mythical September announcement?) that he knows about Bitcoin and is actually thinking about products and services around it. This clip and the Turk interview are extremely bullish leading indicators: if Bitcoin gets on the radar of private wealth managers as a portfolio diversifier, that means demand of potentially billions of dollars. Stars are aligning. Hold onto your coins.

Oh Loaded, who art up in Mt. Gox, hallowed be thy name! Thy dollars rain, thy will be done, on BTCUSD. Give us this day our daily 10% 30%, and forgive the bears, as we have bought their bitcoins. And lead us into quadruple digits

We're going to witness a small transfer of wealth from the older generation of gold bugs to a younger generation of bit bugs. It'll float a lot of boats. And there won't be a damn thing anyone will be able to do about it.

This is great news, but that's the problem. Everyone is just "waiting for the point when they can step in", but no one would actually make the first step.

Why would no one make the first step? I'm particularly interested to hear the theory since first steps have already been made.
