Bter - Scam or Incompetence

Since I only want to call scam when I am thoroughly sure, the pure incompetence and lack of care exercised by Bter and Poloniex for the Qora community is outright unbelievable. I will only speak of my issues, and if any other users or coins for that matter are experiencing the same issues please feel free to piggy back on to this thread and don't forget to share on your coins thread. Additionally, I would like to say that up to this point I have never had any issues with either exchange for over 1 1/2 years.

Bter Scammers? - look, we all know Bter has been hacked a few times, but it has appeared they have made attempts to reconcile with the respective coins and their users. With that said, after many trades, I have hit a wall with Bter and they are either incompetent or selectively unable to amend my issue.

Over 4 weeks ago, I deposited over 40,000,000 million to Bter to trade in hopes of increasing my stack. Well, needless to say, I have yet to see my balance credit.

However, here's the kicker, the deposit address they provided is active and forging blocks. (Qora is a Proof of Stake Coin - so active addresses forge coins if you were unaware). After 24 hours of seeing no update to my balance, I contacted Bter Support. Of course I received the typical canned support response. I waited a day or two and asked them what the issue was. Bter stated the Qora wallet was having issues and they were in contact with the Qora Dev's. Not the most technical response, but I took it as face value and then asked the Qora Development Team if they were aware of any issues Bter was having and if/when the issues would be resolved.

Qora developers responded that they were unaware of any issues and had not been contacted by Bter. Strike 1, Bter is lying to customers.

I then asked other users of our community if they were having issues with Bter Qora deposits/withdrawals and many users had expressed their frustration with Bter as they also had deposits/withdrawals frozen and for a much longer time than myself. Strike 2

4 weeks have passed and Bter at this point does not even respond or acknowledge my emails, nor provide any type of an update. They are just MIA. Strike 3.

They have our coins, continue to forge blocks with user funds and appear to be doing absolutely nothing about fixing their issues.

I mention Poloniex is this tread as well as we are having the same exact issues with them as Bter. Same support issues and responses. Wallet is having issues, we'll credit your account when fix. All the while nothing changes and any opportunities that existed in trading have all but gone. Polo has fixed their issues and redeemed themselves.

So, if you are a Qora user or any other coin that is having issues as a whole for more than a couple of weeks, please reply to this thread with your transactions/issues so we can see the full extent and financial impact of such bad exchanges.

I had similar issue with qora withdraw in bter , luckily my everything ended successfully(after 2-3 week me returned qora to my balance and next request was succesfully).
But currently I have issue with asiacoin, I request withdraw 170 000 AC  about month ago (2015-06-15 ), and this is not the worst, I request to wallet comkort , which will be turned off on 19 july. Until now bter did not change to  submitted my other address , any cancel request. I had submit lot support ticket.For last any replay around week.

BTer has 2 mio of our Qora for 5 weeks. Various excuses have been given while we've watched their forging wallet work fine daily. They also tried to claim our funds were still in the deposit wallet AFTER we showed them it was transferred out of that wallet. We've told them how to resync on three occasions, each time we get the same generic response ignoring any questions we've asked. In the five weeks we've corresponded with them them 10+ times, twice we were promised our funds within 24 hours after we confronted them about the Qora Dev's saying they'd contacted BTer. We never saw the money and consider it stolen and gone at this point.

Poloniex held our funds for 3 months late last year, so they're not much better, but they are registered with FinCEN, so you do have some recourse.

Deposits and withdrawals have been deactivated since over four weeks now. That's really bad. Also the communication. I'll not use Poloniex anymore for any trades.

I have noticed this coin has been neglected for a long time now by these two exchanges. A thread like this one should have been opened a long time ago.

I had a similar issue with bter - took them ~3 weeks to get my qora deposit through. I got exactly the same answers "devs contacted" while devs didn't know about any issue.

did you use the trollbox in that site? because there are numbers of mods can help you to solve, also they will see your ticket.

Just a little update, Polo was finally able to update my balance, but like I stated, 4 weeks have gone by so any good opportunities to trade have passed. As for Bter, well, I've still yet to see my balance update. I did receive another email stating "We're still working on it" which is no comfort.

I got over to exchange all my QORA in Poloniex to Bitcoin to get the value out of it. Now I am looking for another reliable exchange to invest them in Qora again

Well, 5 weeks now and so far, this is all I get if I ask about my coins, "Sorry for the inconvenience caused. We are still working to fix it." and it takes them a week to reply with that.

If I were to possibly take a guess at what has happened, they probably have a script automatically generating the Qora wallets, however probably forgot where they are storing the seeds and passwords, otherwise, what other issue could there be?

lol, bter? more like burner then, they act as a burning address. would explain why they're silent. BTW Poloniex withdrawals are working, could you delete them from your op?

My story is approaching the tragic end, if month ago bter told:

after month(it was more  similar message).I got answer:

7 Weeks have passed and Bter has yet to fix or even provide a truthful explanation of why my funds have not credited to my balance. My funds are certainly there and they are currently forging, in fact, they have forged over 667 Qora with my coins.

They are either scammers or completely incompetent and should be avoided at all costs.

There are so many people talking about bter is a scam. Bter is a Chinese exchange. You should consider if you trust them or not. Some Chinese sites turned out to be a scam. So, if you don't quite trust them, then don't use them. There're plenty of alternatives.
